Hello Hive
It's potato planting season again, and we are already preparing to plant the tubers. Maybe I won't be right if I say that everybody loves potatoes, but I can tell for sure that a lot of people love potatoes.

There are different kinds of potatoes,, and I am quite familiar with the Irish potatoes and these particular sweet potatoes,, which we often grow. I really can't tell if Irish potatoes will grow well in this location,, as most of the ones I see in the market aree being imported to this region from another state within this country. We haven't tried it on our own to grow Irish potatoes here.

Sweet potatoes,, on the other hand,, thrives very well on the land here and have been useful for us over the years as food. It is often among the first categories of crops we normally plant when the rainy season commenced often plant it along side corn in a mixed cultivation farming style. In order to maximize the farmland space available to us here, we often engaged in mixed cropping. Planting 2-3 different types of crops on the same piece of land, hence corn and potatoes are often planted first.

Last week we were on the farm cleaning and clearing the farmland and like I said,re are large portions of our farmlands in different locations within this town. On the different portions,, we often plant different crops. Gradually we clear each portion, get it cultivated,, and then prepare a set of crops to plant on it.
Since corn and potatoes are often planted first, we have cleared and are still clearing the farm location meant for planting thesee two crops.
The rains started in the middle of this month,, and we are not hesitant to begin work.

The only challenge we are having currently is who will assist us in cultivating the land for this year. My daddy,, who often does this hard work for us,, is getting older as the years pass by,, and it will be unfair to watch him do the hard labour of cultivating this land.
Except for the farms I used for my commercial farming,, which you all saw last year,, I often do not employ tractors to cultivate our family farms as such. Daddy often assisted us with this. This year particular dad has has been travelled for a while now, and even though we are expecting him, I'm just not sure if he can help out with cultivating the land this year again.

Laborers are very few, almost nonexistent.ajorityrity of our youths didn't employ farming. Only the adults and older ones are still engaged in this; hence, it is difficult to find a young man that will cultivate your land.
Our land is cleared and ready for cultivation and planting,, but we are puzzled at who will help us out this year.

I have been preparing the potato stems for planting; this has enabled them to grow properly and spread as many stems abroad for us to have enough seedlings of this for planting. Constant wetting and weeding of grasses has helped to preserve our potato plant, making it ready to be planted. As soon as we get someone that can help out with tilling the land, planting will hopefully commence next week.
