If you ever come to Phuket to enjoy the warm waters of the Andaman Sea, you must pay a visit to the local Phuket Old Town. This charming cultural center will surprise you with its beauty, vibrancy, and unique blend of old colonial-style buildings right in the middle of the island’s modern resorts. In the past, the area was one of Thailand’s most prominent industrial centers due to its association with tin mining, which led to a significant influx of Chinese and Portuguese immigrants into the region. They brought their architectural traditions with them, which can be seen in the local shophouses decorated with colorful facades and intricate woodwork. In my opinion, it is worth spending a day exploring this place, discovering its local cafes, shrines, and other unique buildings. I captured many photos there, so be sure to follow my blog to see more images.
I can describe the Phuket Old Town as a historic settlement perfectly integrated into the landscape of the island. Following a tour of the local resort area, I decided to explore this amazing place better. From my point of view, the area is worth visiting because it represents a blend of two different architectural styles. I admire the complex facade of Chinese shophouses with their wooden shutters, which creates a striking contrast against the sky. I was amazed by the atmosphere of the local streets while looking at the old houses with their decorative gardens full of flora.
