The district used to be the home of merchants and aristocrats, so it is not a surprise that the buildings owned by them were constructed in the 19th century and remained almost unchanged. Traditional buildings usually have shahneshin (royal reception chamber), howzkhaneh (underground cool room), or intricately carved decorative elements made of either brick or plaster.
