While going on the beautiful and old street in Novi Sad Serbia I stumble upon this amazing wall that caught my attention in the most pleasing way. I was just capturing some nice shots of the architecture and preparing the camera for the next shot when suddenly and old lady walked pass the big old wall. And this added a whole new aspect to the photo! It instantly changed from an architectural shot to a more human-like and emotional feeling picture.

The old lady leaned on her cane while carrying a little green bag containing her groceries. It was evident that this old soul was going home after doing her shopping. There was just an immense feeling of elegance in this shot. In spite of her age and hardship she stood strong and independent, making her way back home.

I thought this is such a great photo because of a different point of view that it gives us. In many cultures there is a sad and gloomy approach towards getting old. People think that from a certain point in life you are finished, you should just sit and watch the rest of your days pass by contemplating about death. We see aging as a sickness or a bad condition that should be fought not realizing that it just is part of the continuous path that we are all on and that there is something beautiful in every step of the way.

Our life doesn't change simply because we hit a certain point in age. Yes, I see that youth is great, everybody has more energy, looks better, everything seems brighter. But there is room for enjoyment and beauty at all stages of life. I believe that as we grow old, we should rather embrace our life and continue moving forward not dwelling on the negative aspects of the inevitable. I think all of us should just enjoy every single day that we are given and go out and conquer the world because no matter how short or long our time here is it is special and beautiful.

By seeing this old lady out on her own walking around the city I feel that she is a true example of how to be strong and independent and not let the thought of age hold you back. She is enjoying what little life she has left and has conquered a big part of the world
