Hello, friends of the Womentribe community! I hope you are all doing very well today. Life has been quite challenging these past few days, and I’ve been navigating them with patience and a bit of fear. I was reading the initiative by our friend @eldiariodelys, where she talks about reaching adulthood and everything that comes with being a responsible adult. I reflected on this topic and wanted to share my thoughts on what she discusses in her post, as well as how difficult it can be to meet expectations—especially the ones we set for ourselves.

In a few days, it will be my birthday—my last birthday in my twenties. It feels like a long time has passed in just a few months. My life hasn't turned out to be what I expected at this age; much less did I expect everything I would have to go through to learn how to be more mature and more loyal to who I am and the things that make me feel good. I am an adult, but I still receive a lot of help from my parents, and I still live at my mom's house. She is always willing to help me, but I know there are steps I have to take on my own because that’s what adulthood is all about.

I am about to enter a cycle of my life that I’ve been waiting for for a long time. It’s not under the conditions I would have wanted, but I’m entering it with a mindset of gratitude for the huge opportunity to study the career I’ve always had in mind again. I feel that all the steps I’ve taken from five years ago until now have allowed me to appreciate this moment from a different perspective. Now I know it’s time to make the most of this opportunity—it doesn’t happen twice in a lifetime, and I’m not willing to let it go so easily.

I thought that by this age I’d already be graduated and even married 😂, but life isn't linear, nor is it a race where things are fixed in our story. It’s only now that I’m beginning to appreciate the moments when I can do things for myself; at one point I couldn't and I received a lot of help, which I’m grateful for, but I know the path ahead is difficult but not impossible to walk. In a way, it’s proof that God's timing is perfect and that no matter how many times we drift off course, in the end, we will find our place in the world.

Studying can be challenging, but I know I’m going to learn a lot, especially from the people I’ll be surrounded by—some older than me and others much younger, but all with the same goal and putting their hearts into that dream we’ve waited for so long. I still feel like I’m 20 because, as @eldiariodelys says, I like many things that are supposedly no longer "allowed" at my age. But keeping the girl I used to be present makes me feel much happier; it fulfills me to be able to appreciate the little things in life as if I were in my adolescence or childhood.

For some, adult life may mean achieving multiple objectives, goals, and tasks, but everyone has a different timeline and a specific moment to best learn life's lessons. I believe that even though there are things I haven't experienced yet, I feel lucky to still have a much more empathetic vision of life. This allows me to always remember that no matter what happens, the heart must remain intact without hardening from the wounds we sustain along the way. Age is truly just a number when we truly understand that time is finite, that opportunities pass, and that we won't always be this age or have the same strength to keep betting on what fills our souls. So, we must always live in the now. 💛
