Over the years I have been afraid of using artificial intelligence not because it is evil or bad but because it tends to cause an addiction. I have seen a situation whereby people completely become so addicted to artificial intelligence that they lose their ability to think independently and make informed decisions on everything. The students and those in the educational sector happen to be the major victims of this anomaly. Artificial Intelligence is one of the wonders of the modern world, in fact, it is beyond human expectation, the extent to which artificial intelligence is working and making life easy for people.
The technology behind artificial Intelligence is so great that it cuts across all human spheres. No sector of human life that artificial intelligence cannot touch hence, it is on this note that no matter what you do, you cannot escape this invention. For some reason, I have been against the use of artificial intelligence, especially in the education industry because I believe that it would end up making people dependent and addicted to it, hence killing the innovative abilities of the people. The worst that could ever happen to humans is to lose their thinking abilities. Solutions to every problem lie in the capacity to think. So when this ability has been transferred to a machine and technology, then problems become inevitable.

You don't need to agree with me that AI has done more harm than good. Although the intention is good and promising, it is gradually replacing human beings hence making human abilities and efforts obsolete and useless. In schools recently, students have become so interdependent on AI and it is killing their creativity and natural intelligence. It got to the level that almost every student consults ChatGPT and other AI platforms for every assignment given to them. Again, teachers and lecturers are now given to assessing the student's work done by a machine instead of that of the student. This is one of the many problems of this innovation.

Apart from the students, teachers are also guilty of this. I am a high school teacher in my city and every day we are faced with lots of work especially when the examination period gets closer. You have to see how to complete your scheme of work, Mark student's notes and assignments, assess them, and also do some necessary imputation of scores within a short period. I had lots of jobs on the table and I was running out of time, so to beat this, I consulted AI for assistance and it came through for me and I was able to finish the job on time. How it happened is that I was to set over 250 objective questions across all the classes that I teach, I did not know that ChatGPT could help me do the job without stress, all I had to do was to give a command and succinctly it was carried out and all I did was to copy and paste. I must say that this is my first time of using AI and it made my job effortless as a result of this, my perspective on artificial intelligence changed drastically.
