Over the years, there has been an emergence of so many digital communities for different purposes. The world has evolved so much from the times when there was little to no digital presence to today when almost everyone lives on the internet.
However, everything has both its good and bad side and that includes digital communities. I remember how some years back so many people got scammed on most platforms especially Facebook, instagram and whatsapp. But, that doesn’t mean having a digital presence is a bad thing. It’s actually a good thing as there’s so much out there to learn, do and also grow from.
Looking back the years when the whole concept of technology started to be accepted by everyone, I believe that wattpad has to be that one platform that impacted most of the youth especially we the book lovers. Those days, if you didn’t have a wattpad account for reading or writing, we would consider you to be from the Stone Age and I’m not even joking about it. Funny right?😂
But, people change as times change in different regards. Everyday, there are new platforms emerging and different individuals signing up and taking advantage of the services they have to provide. We all are different and so what we are all looking out for is different. But, I believe that’s we’d all agree that one of the major impact digital platforms have had on our lives as individuals is the fact that we learn everyday no matter the platform.
No matter the platform I log onto, I always learn something new be it consciously or unconsciously. We mostly hear people talk about how others waste their whole day on TikTok or Snapchat without learning anything but when you look at it on the brighter side, everyone picks up a thing or two in the process even if they didn’t intend to.
Moving on, I would say digital communities have had a very great impact in my life first by providing me with a place to learn, share ideas and also meet new people. Trust me when I tell you I met so many people in my life currently through either one digital community or another. It all started from a Hi or Hello and look at us today. Most of these people have played and are still playing a significant role in my life as we speak now. And that’s really more than I ever imagined.
Also, my life has been impacted in the aspect of my finances . Since joining the hive ecosystem some years ago, I would say my finances have really been in order as compared to before. I moved from relying on my family to being independent and that was a great change in my life. I also got to learn more about how to manage my finances, how to invest and so much more. In addition to that, I have also been able to gain a sense of belonging in the hive ecosystem as I’ve met so many people on here who have played a huge role in my progress on the ecosystem today.
If I should go on, I don’t think we would finish today because there’s so much more to talk about. But these few impacts I’ve spoken about basically covers it all. There’s always a good and bad side of everything but when it comes to my digital life, I believe the positives outweigh the negatives.
