The only reason for making money is to spend it.- Henry Ford

Believe it or not, money runs our world today. We need money for literally everything we do yet most of us still don’t value the money we have. Money is made to be spent, yes. But how you spend the money you have also matters.

Just yesterday, I was planning on going to the market to get some stuff and it made me realise how much I’ve been able to cut off on my expenses over the past few months. Honestly, you only learn to be appreciative of money when you don’t have it.😂

As a woman, I have so many things I need. Without them, I just don’t feel at ease. Anytime I need to get something, I realise that that prizes have skyrocketed and most at times I get pissed off because I didn’t think it would be this expensive. Now, I know better and I no more worry about prices going up because I have developed ways and means to stay within my budget and I want to share these tips with you today.

The first step in managing your finances right is to have a budget. This way you learn to stay within your budget and not spend extravagantly.

Once you learn to stay within your budget we can now move on to the next important point on the list which is prioritising your needs and not your wants. We can all attest to the fact that we sometimes fall victim to buying things we didn’t plan on when we go shopping. Last week, I went grocery shopping and I returned home with a shirt, I got it at a cool deal though but it still affected my budget. So, my advice to anyone trying to manage their finances is ,purchase what you need and leave what you want for when you have some extra cash to spare.

Also, another factor we mostly forget is shopping in bulk. Going out to buy bottle of drink whenever you need to wouldn’t help but rather, consider buying the whole pack. You’d save so much money which you could spend on other stuff. I learnt this the hard way.

Before I forget, put your shyness away and make good use of promotions. When you walk into town today, you come across so many brands running good promotions on their products. I for one wouldn’t let any opportunity like this pass out on me because you’re likely to come across such great deals only once in a while.

If you’re not a billionaire, you’d most definitely need money for emergencies once in a while and that’s where your savings come in to save you. I know how we say the money you save today saves you tomorrow because the economy is hard these days. With the way things are going, that’s even the more reason why you as an individual should have a savings plan. Saving 10% out of your weekly or monthly budget wouldn’t hurt if you really know the value of saving. So, let’s learn to cultivate the habit of saving.

These are the few tips I want to share with you all when it comes to managing finances. Give it a try and your life will never be the same.
