Black is the new gold.
There was a time when it was all about the gold cards for me. Gold summoners to summon gold monsters. The dream of a serious collector.
It's cheaper and faster to buy regular cards but they just don't have the same appeal to me and it gets me into the bigger tournaments which are the main earner in the game now that reward cards are limited to frontier.
I have some great cards going back to the beta days but no legenderies unfortunately. They are above my paygrade. Those ones you needed to pull back in day one to have a decent collection and i didn't jump in heavily enough back then.
Oh well.
What you can get now is huge CP from the modern black foil cards.
25K CP from a regular foil and 262K CP for a legendary card. Massive for the price compared to a beta legendary which would set you back $2,000 for 315K CP against $100 for the 262K of a modern black card.
If you want collection power for tournaments or any other reason then black foil is the quickest and cheapest way to do it. That's why I have been picking up these cheap cards when I can to get into the modern tournaments without an extensive modern collection.
I am stll working to fill out my beta summoner collection but they have all jumped in price for now and are not good value for my DEC. All they would do is sit there until i can max out all of the cards and would cost a lot of funds to do so.
Instead I will keep buying what i feel are underpriced black foil cards and wait for the beta market to drop back down a bit before hopefully winning enough new DEC to buy the beta cards or trade these black foil at a higher price to do the sam thing.
