Nigeria's climate has been changing over time. As the year passes by, we keep experiencing unusual changes in weather that are very different from what they're used to. Currently, we are in rainy season, and the weather is cold. Although it hasn't rained for the past two weeks in my location, we are still experiencing very cold weather, especially from evening through the night and in the morning. I am sure many people feel comfortable with this weather regarding the terrible heat wave we experienced in February this year, which became a trend on the Internet, and many people questioned if Nigerians are now sharing boundaries with hellfire.
The climate of Nigeria has two known distinct seasons, which are the rainy season, which lasts from April to October, and the dry season, which lasts from November to March. However, there have been changes over time with these seasons. For instance, we do experience variable rainfall, like a longer rainy season that extends to even November sometimes. Some years, we still observe a rainy season from February, so heavy that it will leave you to question if this change is still normal. When the rainfall becomes too much, there's always a rise in sea level, and flooding sets in, especially with our poor drainage system. This year's flooding has been terrible, affecting lives and properties, and according to the news, there's still more to happen before the year ends.
Prior to the wet season, we experienced a very increase in temperature all over the country. Specifically in February this year, we saw temperatures rise to as high as 39 °C.. The spark in the heat wave was quite unusual, and all over the Internet, people expressed their worries so much. You could see pictures of babies and adults with terrible rashes all over the body. Sleeping comfortably at night was far from it because our electricity supply has been suffering from kwashiorkor, and so your fan or A.C. cannot even rescue you unless you have enough money to burn the high cost of fuel every night.
The duration and intensities of both rainfall and heat waves have increased lately, and because the masses also contribute to the effects of these seasons we suffer, I am hoping that our government should always step up to intervene for a better good living.

For now, there's no flooding, no serious rainfall, but cold weather, and to avoid sickness associated with cold weather, I ensure that my family and I keep warm when needed to avoid hospital trips.
