Sometimes, I just wonder how our forefathers navigated this life without these scientific innovations that make our lives easier today. I keep thanking my stars that I wasn't born in that era because thinking about it reveals to me how tedious life would have been for me if I was born then, lol.

Let's be realistic; can we even do without science nowadays? Scientific innovation has become part of our lives. We now live a more comfortable life, a softer kind of living, if I should use that word.We can't exhaust the benefits of scientific innovation in a jiffy. They are too numerous to start mentioning.

Two days ago, I visited a friend who almost bled to death while giving birth. The complications were so terrible that even after taking 6 pints of blood, she was still bleeding and looked pale. She managed to tell the husband with the little strength left in her that he should please take care of her children because she is already weak and doubts if she can still survive and be alive. Later on that day, the doctors came up with the idea of taking her back to the theater to completely remove her womb in order to quench the bleeding since they have tried other means without success. My good friend was wheeled back to the theater for another round of surgery, and this time, the bleeding stopped!

I breathed in and out and couldn't stop thanking God and the doctors. My husband asked, What if this happened in those days without this kind of scientific innovation in the health sector? What would have been the fate of this young lady? That was a strong reflection, which made me realize that some women lost their lives during childbearing in similar cases back then, prior to science and innovations. But glad science is to our rescue today in diverse sectors, making life better.

Having said that, you will agree with me that sometimes, these scientists lack boundaries. Every day, science gets broader and more vast, with new innovations more often, and we keep on evolving and making new discoveries. However, there are parts about science that I don't agree with. I mean, it's not just necessary and bad for humanity with health implications.

Since the invention of this buttocks and breast enlargement, many of my gender have embraced this cosmetic. I saw a video of one lady the other day, and I shed real tears on her behalf, especially seeing how beautifully she was endowed naturally but still went ahead to enlarge her breasts and buttocks. Most ladies in the movie industry do this as well. The day I read that some inflammable gaseous substances are usually used for this process, I blamed scientists for making this accessible to humans. Obviously it's dangerous to health. Why invent this? Why not channel their energy to more relevant innovations? The truth is that if scientists didn't invent it, humans wouldn't go for it because they wouldn't access it in the first place.

This particular scientific innovation is not necessary, and if there is a way to stop this, then we can reclaim some lives already exposed to health risks associated with this invention in the name of looking for beauty.

This is my response to the #hivelearners contest on the topic titled, SCIENTIFIC LEAPS.
