I don't know if I should blame myself for this kitchen mishap or blame YouTube or even my sister-in-law, who has been teaching me some new recipes over the phone. Maybe no one is to blame, but the ingredients that refused to mix well in the pot, hehehe— the ingredients didn't give me much cooperation so I can have a desired result from this kitchen adventure. Let's see what happened in my kitchen recently😌

So I am this kind of mom that loves being adventurous in my kitchen. Sometimes, I am on the lookout for new recipes to try out for my kids—just anything to make them happy. I do visit YouTube sometimes anyway, but mostly for a meal I am familiar with but needed something different to spice up the meal. This day, I spoke with my sister-in-law, who is a great chef to her husband, and she kept teaching me different recipes she has been trying. I was eager to try out one of the recipes she explained but still skeptical about the outcome due to the way she explained it to me.

What I didn't do well was try a new recipe, which I am not too conversant with, when my husband, who has been away from home since 7 months ago, called to inform me that he is coming home. I guess the spirit of wanting to please this man possessed my soul, and I forgot to think and rethink before jumping into action. At least for a new recipe, I should have just tried it in little quantities with my kids and see the outcome before making it in large quantities for the whole family. Anyway,  that was a lesson learned in a special way.

That's the food in the above image. Don't ask me the name of this food because I don't even know, hahaha. That's how serious this meal that went wrong is. My driving force is the veggies, which are the main ingredient, and I felt it should be yummy and healthy for a warm welcome back of my husband and for a nice treat for my boys.

You needed to see the hype from me prior to preparing this meal. I gave my kids a promise that they were about to visit a Chinese restaurant at my dining table, and they were all pumped up waiting for this special delicacy from mom, lolz. I was busy playing the YouTube video over and over, mixing the ingredients and stirring, adding extra spicy, just anything to make the taste great, not knowing that I was messing with the meal. At least I should have followed my sister-in-law's instructions instead of getting extra information from YouTube, which later landed the food in a mess. To recall that some spicy I added in this meal was so stressful for me to find in the mall makes me feel annoyed even now that I am writing this post. Just call me over Sabi; (I too know), hehe, that caused the whole mess.

The taste of the meal after the whole mixing was nothing to write home about. The look isn't bad, but the food couldn't pass my throat. Oh no!, the too much spicy was slapping my taste buds, quite uncomfortable. At this point, I knew that I was "in" for another round of food mess all in the name of adventure because a similar thing has happened to me in the past. Perhaps I should stop all the kitchen adventures and focus on improving on the ones I know.

To see that my kids couldn't eat the food as well was disappointing. Let me not even embarrass myself by telling you guys how they reacted, including my husband, but the summary of the whole kitchen saga was that I felt so ashamed of the turnout but then, I had to comfort myself by reminding my humble self that I am only a human filled with imperfections, lolz. To rewrite my mistake, I quickly removed one of the soups in my freezer and prepared another meal for my family.

Here you have it, my memorable kitchen story!
