However, it is not only the people of Cumana who enjoy it; its vast expanse of sea extends to the municipalities of Cruz Salmeron Acosta—or what is known as “the other coast” facing Cumana—as well as the municipalities of Ribero, Mejías, and Bolívar, which are also fortunate to have this gulf stretching out before them. Now, as for our own Cumana, the Cinta Costera runs along Avenida Cacique Maraguey—or, as we usually call it, Avenida Perimetral. It stretches for several kilometers, and along it we can find many attractions, fish markets, cocktail bars, and various recreational spots for people of all ages.
But from my point of view, the biggest attraction is the fabulous sea of the Gulf of Cariaco, accompanied by a canopy of clouds, a blue sky, and the warm sun; but you can also enjoy all its beauty and its fabulous breeze at night. In this case, let’s enjoy the first part of this wonderful hike so you can see the marvelous sea we have around here—a sea that drives both locals and visitors wild.

The vegetation is impressive, and here we see large palm trees, but since this is a coastal area, the fantastic uvero trees are a must-see. This tree bears a fruit, logically called an uvero, which is very rich and sweet. We’re now on the shores of the Gulf of Cariaco on this side of Cumana; truly, the deep blue of the sea and the blue of the sky combine to offer a majestic view, and a little further on, you can see the mountain ranges that belong to the other coast—the municipality of Cruz Salmeron Acosta.
As we continued on our way, we came across many rocks along the shore where the waves crash, creating a magnificent and spectacular symphony of sound. Both naturally and through human intervention, these rocks have formed into makeshift docks where small boats—or so-called fishing boats—can easily dock. This is understandable, since this area of Caiguire is primarily a fishing community.
The sun feels wonderful, and as I mentioned earlier, Caiguire is a fishing town; it has been that way since ancient times, and even today, the descendants haven’t forgotten these economic practices that truly help many families in the area. Coincidentally, we were able to witness the preparation of two boats for their upcoming trip. They already had all the fishing gear ready, including the famous atarraya.
This area is very popular with locals and many tourists, especially during Carnival and Holy Week. This season was fabulous, because large crowds gathered there to enjoy all the products offered by the people in the area: fish, appetizers, empanadas, traditional drinks, and more. There are many permanent kiosks here that specialize in these items, as well as others that set up shop specifically during those seasons.
No one can deny that our state of Sucre has places for both locals and visitors to enjoy. The ocean is wonderful and incredibly relaxing; personally, I can spend hours and hours looking out at it, just to unwind and escape the stress that’s built up over the week. Sin embargo; no solo los cumaneses disfrutan de él, sino que su largo y ancho mar se extiende por los municipios Cruz Salmeron Acosta, o la llamada la otra costa que tenemos frente a Cumana. También el Municipio Ribero, Mejías y Bolívar, tienen la dicha de tener frente a ellos este Golfo. Ahora; en lo que corresponde a nuestra Cumaná, la Cinta Costera está ubicada a lo largo de la Avenida Cacique Maraguey; o como normalmente la llamamos, Avenida Perimetral. Son varios kilómetros y en ellos podemos encontrar muchas atracciones, venta de pescados, coctelelitos y distintos lugares para la recreación de todo público.
Pero desde mi punto de vista; la atracción mayor es el fabuloso mar del Golfo de Cariaco, acompañado del techo de nubes, cielo azul y el cálido sol; pero también de noche se disfruta toda su hermosura y su fabulosa Brisa. En este caso; vamos a disfrutar de la parte inicial de esta fabulosa caminería y así podrán observar la maravilla de mar que tenemos por estos lados; un mar que es la locura de propios y visitantes.

La vegetación es importante y por acá observamos grandes árboles de palmeras, pero siendo una zona marina; no podían faltar los fantásticos árboles de uveros. Este árbol nos proporciona una fruta, lógicamente llamada uvero, la cual es muy rica y dulce. Ya estamos a orillas del Golfo de Cariaco desde este lado de Cumaná; de verdad que el azul marino y el azul de cielo se combinan para brindar una vista magestuosa y un poco más allá, podrás observar las formaciones montañosas que pertenecen a la otra costa o Municipio Cruz Salmerón Acosta.
Siguiendo nuestro camino, encontramos muchas rocas en la orilla donde las olas chocan, formando una actividad sonora grandiosa y espectacular. También de forma natural y por la mano del hombre, se han formado como especies de muelles, donde fácilmente pueden llegar embarcaciones pequeñas o los llamados botes pesqueros. Es de entender esto; ya que esta zona de Caiguire es netamente pesquera.
El sol se siente de una manera genial y como dije antes, esta localidad de Caiguire es pesquera; desde tiempos remotos ha sido así y hoy en día, los descendientes no han olvidado estas prácticas económicas que de verdad ayudan a muchas familias del sector. Casualmente; pudimos estar presente en la preparación de dos embarcaciones para su posterior salida. Ya tenían a la disposición todos los implementos para la pesca, incluyendo la famosa atarraya.
Este sector es muy visitado por sus habitantes y por muchos turistas, especialmente en las temporadas de carnaval y semana santa. Esta temporada fue fabulosa, porque allí se congregaron gran cantidad de personas para disfrutar de todos los productos que la gente del sector ofrece; pescados, coctelitos, empanadas, bebidas tradicionales, entre otros. Aquí existen muchos kioscos que se dedican a ello y otros kioskos que instalan justamente en en las mencionadas temporadas.
Nadie puede negar que nuestro estado Sucre tiene lugares para el disfrute de propios y visitantes. El mar es algo maravilloso y super relajante; por mi parte, puedo pasar horas y horas frente a él, solo para relajarme y alejarme del estrés acumulado de la semana. Este ha sido el inicio de la Cinta Costera y se les ha gustado esta belleza; bueno, lo que viene es mucho mejor y hermoso. Saludos a todos y disfruten de estas maravillosas vistas.
