Greetings, everyone!
Welcome to New Grace and Favour.
As a secondary school teacher, I am enjoying a full week-long mid-term break at home, relaxing and doing what is best for me.
This week, we are sharing our thoughts on the main purpose of sending criminals to prison. And I will contribute or share my thoughts on the right thing to be done with ungodly human beings.
The main purpose of sending criminals to prison is as a result of breaking the country's laws and receiving punishment for their actions. So, I believe severe punishment should be unleashed on them so that others can learn and repent from their evil doing. Without punishment, they will go back and continue with that same character and attitude and ruin our society or inflict pain on other innocent people. Some of these criminals are the reason for the loss of people's lives who didn't deserve to die. Serious offences should attract appropriate punishment without any pity for any one of them.
However, punishment alone will not solve the problem. The Government should provide a rehabilitation centre for these criminals to be educated, informed and learn one or two skills that will help them earn money when they are out of prison, to avoid endangering themselves in criminal acts. Let them be enrolled in the "course of punishment" and then proceed to the "course of rehabilitation", where they will be educated about character development and skills acquisition that will them become responsible members in the society, offering values, dignity and accountability to themselves and to the society as a whole.
I believe this method is more welcoming and considered to be part of the constitution in Nigeria and other countries. This as a result of securing a safer future for them.
Therefore, their sins should be confess or renounce their evil character before the lord.
