Greetings, ladies of Hive!
Did someone support you during your hardest time? How did they help?
According to the contest question, yes, someone supported me even when I least expected it. This experience inspired me to coin the phrase:
“The more grateful you are, the more blessings you recognize.”
The support I received was extraordinary, and I was completely amazed by it. It came as a surprise, so I describe it as unconditional support because it was given without any conditions or expectations. This act of kindness also reminded me that some husbands are truly faithful to their wives.
This Is My Story
After my NYSC service in Northern Nigeria, I felt a strong nudge to remain in the North. While I was still serving, I lived in the NCCF Family House. After my Passing-Out Parade (POP), I decided to rent an apartment for myself.
After spending more than two weeks searching for a suitable apartment, I finally found one that I was satisfied with, and I thank God for it. I paid the rent and moved in.
However, I was a little skeptical about the future and how life would treat me, but I continued to trust God.
On the very day I moved in, I sent a message to my Community Vice Chairman, who also served as the secretary. I informed him that I would be leaving the Family House for my rented apartment. He was surprised and asked where the apartment was located. He then told me that after work, he would come to see me. I agreed.
Later that evening, he called, and I gave him the location. When he arrived, he remarked that the environment was good, convenient, and secure. As he entered my room, he noticed that I was sleeping on the floor and asked why.
I explained that I had just moved in and that I planned to buy a mattress soon.
He then told me that early the next morning, I should go to the market and inquire about the prices of a mattress and a standing fan.
I was astonished and asked myself, “Is this for real?”
After he left, I returned to my room, rolled on the floor, and thanked God for the favor He had shown me.
The support this man gave me was completely unconditional. He was a married man who helped me without making any advances or placing any conditions on his assistance.
"Tears rolled down my cheeks".
I eventually got the mattress and the standing fan, which I am still enjoying today. It keeps me cool and provides relief during the hot weather.
I was overwhelmed by this act of kindness and leaped with joy, excitement, and gratitude.
It all started when I sincerely expressed my appreciation to him for always helping me. I thanked him for the financial support he had been giving me. This was not the first time he had helped me; he had supported me financially on several occasions.
My gratitude encouraged him to do even more for me, even though I never expected such generosity.
Today, I remain thankful to God and grateful for the kindness shown to me through this man. Indeed, the more grateful you are, the more blessings you recognize.
