Tourists that want to visit Paris by car will better think twice before they park their car somewhere down the road in the French capital. Heavy cars, combustion and hybrid cars above 1600 kilograms and electric cars above 2000 kilograms will pay 18 EUR to park for one hour. If you leave your car parked for 6 hours, the fee is 225 EUR.

This was decided after a referendum among the inhabitants of Paris was held earlier this year. 54 % of the people voted yes. Yet that is not exactly correct, only 5.7 % of the possible voters showed up, and of those 54 % voted yes.

No more SUV’s

The campagne around the legislation was centred around banning SUV’s out of the city. Mayor Anne Hidalgo finds them loud, annoying and bad for the environment.
I guess she got what she wanted…
