Could it be said that society had set standards for people and the kind of lifestyle they chose to live. Yes, right from creation, standards had been set in different ways and levels for people to dwell on.
As time changes, more dos and don'ts emerge in different segments of life. Most people create standards for themselves which they abide by and most people just live on the standards that were created by another person.
Most choices in life taken by people are choices made out of looking unto other people's standards.
There are types of standards and these types of standards include religious and social standards. Different religions have their different standards and it is good for them also in the social aspect of life there are also standards.
Most people decide that they will not have children unless they are legally married. While some decide to have children whether they are legally married or not. Do what suits you or what you're comfortable with.
Most people get upset at those who go ahead making choices they find good for themselves. For example, a child decides not to further his or her education in a higher institution but to learn a trade or a skill, most people get so upset that such child must go to the Higher Institution simply because her neighbor’s child went there not trying to know the child’s reason or to know if the child's brain can carry book load.
Suggestions: Why not enroll such a child in the child’s desired skill acquisition center or trade place for learning and practice in order to see if that child will do well.
In my place, academic education (not talking down on it) has become the main goal and priority of the majority. Only very few want to farm or fish, nobody wants to be creative. You see millions of people running into Higher Institutions. These Institutions graduate millions of students every year, who come out of school doing nothing out of their lives or returning to the streets to do menial jobs to earn money.
Facilities and structures are not even put in place to cover these graduates especially when they come out of school.
I feel people shouldn't measure their life’s standard to the lifestyle of another person as all fingers are not equal. Rather people should live right, do the right thing at the right time and at the right place, and live within their own ability. People should also chase their dreams and goals in life and not let another person's standard or opinion influence it.
Your future belongs to you. If you fall, you fall alone, but if you rise, the world will clap for you. Choose your dreams wisely.
