Welcome to today's blog

Ever Lived in a location where you find it a bit difficult to get little things you need for the moment. Well, I know that most people who are financially buoyant, go out to the shopping mall to buy all the things they will need for their house which will last for a period of about a month.
I know some people who have every pin in their houses even to the extent that even if they wanted to prepare a meal in the middle of the night, they will do that without having to go out to buy anything or be found wanting for lack of ingredients or proteins. I hope to get there sooner in life.
On this day, I needed soda soap to do laundry, so I went to buy the soap outside. Only for me to trek miles just for a single soap of 200 Naira. The street looked so empty, that I barely found any available store to buy something.

Empty street
I entered from corner to corner and later I felt very hungry and felt I should buy biscuits to snack on, I saw a small shop and there I bought the soda soap also.

Kiosks
Actually, I saw one kiosk before I went to this other shop but they did not have what I wanted so I decided to check the next place. The distance of these shops was really far away from my house. If I were to take a bike ride (okada) I would have paid the sum of N300 to get to those shops just to buy 200 Naira soda soap.

Provision shop
After buying my soap, I trekked back home and began to do my laundry for the day. I washed lots of clothes and the soda soap I used in washing also caused slight irritation on my hands. I do not know if the soap was not cooked well, because it is only where the soap is not cooked well that it will cause irritation to the skin.

Doing laundry (washing clothes) with soda soap
This soda soap is a locally made soap in my community. It is made mainly from palm oil and caustic soda then other ingredients. It is very foamy although I combined the soda soap with a detergent I already had at home to do the laundry.
I finished washing on time and I spread my clothes out on the line, they dried up earlier than expected because the sun shone greatly. Most of the clothes that did not dry, I had to spread them again for them to dry properly.
Over here, most people are lucky to have washing machines in their houses but we do not have one now so we use our bare hands to do laundry. Most traditional women say using the hands to wash clothes is the best because it removes more dirt. I don't know how true that saying is.
Most people in the deep rural communities go to the stream to carry out their laundry. Most people do not even use soap to wash, all they do is use big stones by the stream to wash. They soak their clothes in the stream and then hit it on stones until all the dirt is out of the cloth, then they rinse and spread it in the bushes for it to dry. This method of doing laundry is also interesting in its own way.
How do you do your laundry, do you use your hands or you use a machine or you give your clothes to the laundry man. Just do what is more comfortable for you. You can also share your thoughts in the comment section.
