Reading @vickoly’s post reminded me of when we were young and as children, Christmas was always another celebration for us. When December approaches, we usually buy small, customised gift paper. The idea is to go round, including meeting up with our uncles and aunts to write the gift they would be giving us and the date beside it, so we can get everything before Christmas.
To us, once an adult fails to fulfil their promises, we get hurt and then tag those ones as wicked. Children do not like being promised and never fulfilled; there’s no way you could escape them because they have this memory of remembering everything you promised them, and you’d be ready to earn their trust.
Those gifts, especially the ones in cash, would be used to buy bangers and firecrackers to light up everywhere to make it fun and lively. It was always fun receiving gifts, too from relatives and friends of our relatives and parents. We always looked forward to Christmas.
Growing up now, we hardly receive any gifts again because every young child looks up to us for Christmas gifts to give them. Now, it’s our turn to give back and yes, it has always been interesting giving to others.
Now, Christmas is coming, and I do have gift ideas to give. But beyond that, there are things I need and would appreciate being gifted; trust me, it would be something I would be grateful for and valued for life as long as I am living. The thing is, I have been wishing for an electric cooker, microwave and oven for a while now.
These are items I need to make things comfortable and easier for me, especially when there’s electricity where I could just make do with them anytime I am craving sumptuous meal and wouldn’t want to waste my gas but take the advantage of electricity and yes, for the oven, it would be very useful to make meat pie, small cake for myself, and also to grill chicken.
So, perhaps, making a wish for these items would make Santa come knock on my door and hand me these important gadgets, and I would be so happy. This will also add to the amazing things I have gotten this year 2025, making the year a memorable one.
Honestly, I can’t remember the last time I was gifted anything on Christmas because it’s been a long time, but I remember my sisters gave me some gifts last December, and it was almost Christmas time. But, I wouldn’t call that a Christmas gift because it was for my birthday in January, this year which I had to keep until then before I used them.
But in all, I still want something this year, and who knows, an angel would come around to make my wish come true, and when it happens, I will surely notify you all about it.
