This week when I was at the university I met a friend who took the opportunity to invite me to his performance presentation. He needed someone to help him set up the sound system that would accompany his performance piece. The meeting took place at the dance company located next to the Caño Amarillo metro station in Caracas, Venezuela (the main building of the Armando Reveron UNEARTE university, where I currently study, is located in that same location).
Esta semana cuando estuve por la universidad me encontré con un amigo que aprovecho para invitarme a su presentación de un performance, el requería que alguien lo ayudara a colocar la ambientación sonora que acompañaría su pieza performance, el encuentro se realizó en la compañía de danza que está ubicada al lado de la estación de metro de caño amarillo en Caracas, Venezuela, (en ese mismo lugar se encuentra ubicado el edificio principal de la universidad Armando Reveron UNEARTE, donde actualmente estudio).

The meeting was the presentation of the final performances of the curricular unit "MIND, BODY AND SPACE" which is part of the Mixed Media spatiality (the specialty that I study at the university) several students were going to perform, Carlos (the friend who asked me for help) was the first to do his performance, he left me a small script with a schedule to place the sound tracks in a specific duration of time, he kept everything very well calculated; his performance consisted of 4 facets in each one he would use a different costume accompanied by a unique musical track for each one of the facets, his interpretation was very interesting and profound, an experience full of movements that allowed him to make the transition between the internal facets of his being that he tried to transmit to the spectators flow very well.
El encuentro era la presentación de los performance finales de la unidad curricular "MENTE, CUERPO Y ESPACIO" que es parte de la espacialidad de Medios Mixtos (la especialidad que yo estudio en la universidad) se iban a presentar varios estudiantes, Carlos (el amigo que me pidió ayuda) fue el primero en hacer su performance, me dejo un pequeño guion con un cronograma para colocar las pistas sonoras en un tiempo de duración especifico, todo lo mantenía muy bien calculado; su performance constaba de 4 facetas en cada una usaría un traje diferente acompañado de una pista musical única para cada una de las facetas, estuvo muy interesante y profunda su interpretación, una experiencia llena de movimientos que le permitía hacer fluir muy bien la transición entre las facetas internas de su ser que intentaba trasmitir a los espectadores.

The second interpretation was a more emotional experience, the young man expressed his transformation processes at the level of unity and duality by involving several of the spectators to be part of his performance, incorporating pigments he achieved an explosion of color that he captured with his hands and those of the three people he used included in his interpretation; in the end he captured his vital essence on the canvas and the stain can be seen as a heart to express LIFE, LOVE and STRENGTH.
La segunda interpretación fue una experiencia más emocional, el joven expreso sus procesos de transformación a nivel de unidad y dualidad al involucrar a varios de los espectadores a ser parte de su performance, incorporando pigmentos logro una explosión de color que plasmo con sus manos y las de las tres personas que uso incluyo en su interpretación; al final plasmo en el lienzo su esencia vital y se puede apreciar la mancha como un corazón para expresar VIDA, AMOR y FORTALEZA.

The next one to appear was a girl, who surprised us with a half-naked performance, and out of respect for her I did not take many photographs of her performance. She delighted us with a very intense and personal scene that took us into the inner world of women to show us how they have to endure a painful internal natural process, which allows them to become physically and mentally strong by channeling and transmuting; the scene was accompanied by a light sound note produced by a violin player, very successfully complementing the entire performance piece, an extraordinary experience.
La siguiente en presentarse fue una chica, que nos sorprendió con una interpretación semidesnuda, y por respeto hacia ella no saque mucho registro fotográfico de su interpretación, Ella nos deleitó con una escena muy intensa y personal que nos adentraba en el mundo interno de las mujeres para mostrarnos como ellas tienen que soportar un doloroso proceso natural interno, que les permite hacerse física y mentalmente fuertes canalizando y trasmutando; la escena estaba acompañada de una leve nota sonora producida por una intérprete del instrumento violín, complementando de manera muy acertada toda la pieza performance, una extraordinaria experiencia.

The closing was in charge of a student called Marcos, he interpreted an excellent piece where he expresses the DISPOSSESSION or the LIBERATION of social burdens that have imprisoned the human being in this collective reality; in his interpretation he wrote several words all over his body using pigments and then he faded each word with his hands in order to get rid of those burdens that he feels are depriving him of his freedom, it was a somewhat dark scene, in my opinion he expressed a lot of internal suffering, showing that in his life he is going through strong transcendental processes that will change a lot his reason for existing. I really love being able to appreciate this type of artistic presentations, they allow me to get into the notion of what awaits me in this adventure that we call studying plastic arts, and to understand how to express mental states through new means of artistic expression such as performance, I know that soon I will begin to make my own interpretations; I hope this post is to your liking, good vibes.
El cierre estuvo a cargo de un estudiante llamado Marcos, el interpreto una excelente pieza en donde expresa el DESPOJO o la LIBERACION de cargas sociales que tienen aprisionado al ser humano en esta realidad colectiva; en su interpretación se escribió varias palabras por todo el cuerpo usando pigmentos y luego fue desvaneciendo cada palabra con sus manos para así ir desprendiéndose de esas cargas que el siente lo están privando de su libertad, fue una escena un poco oscura, a mi parecer expreso mucho sufrimiento interno, demostrando que en su vida está pasando por fuertes procesos trascendentales que le cambiaran mucho su razón de existir. De verdad que me encanta poder apreciar este tipo de presentaciones artísticas, me permiten entrar en noción de lo que me espera en esta aventura que llamamos estudiar artes plástica, y entender como expresar estados mentales mediante los nuevos medios de expresión artísticas como lo es el performance, sé que pronto comenzare a realizar mis propias interpretaciones; espero que este post sea de su agrado, buenas vibras.
