The Story of “God Is Watching Me”

One day, an old teacher wanted to test the intelligence and awareness of his students.

He called four young boys and gave each of them an apple.

Then he said:

“Eat this apple somewhere no one can see you.”

The four boys left, each looking for a place where he could be completely alone.

After some time, they returned to the teacher.

The teacher asked them:

“Did you eat the apple?”

The first boy said:

“Yes. I ate it in my room, where no one could see me.”

The second boy said:

“I went into the desert and ate it there. There was no one around.”

The third boy said:

“I went out onto a boat in the middle of the sea and ate it there. No one could see me.”

But the fourth boy returned with the apple still in his hand.

The teacher looked at him and asked:

“Why didn’t you eat your apple?”

The boy replied:

“I went to many different places, but I could not find a place where no one could see me.”

The teacher asked:

“Why?”

The boy answered:

“Because Allah sees me wherever I am.”

The teacher smiled.

The boy had understood something the others had missed.

You may hide from people.

You may close the doors.

You may go somewhere no one knows about.

But you can never hide from Allah.

He sees what you do in secret and what you do in public.

The Lesson:

True righteousness is not simply doing good when people are watching.

True righteousness is doing what is right even when you are completely alone.

When a person truly remembers that Allah sees him everywhere, he begins to watch his words, his actions, and even the intentions hidden inside his heart.

Because the strongest form of self-control is knowing that even when no human being sees you...

Allah sees you.
