"Ayo, where are you?" Mrs. Tiara called out to Ayo, her eight-year-old son, who couldn't answer because his mouth was stuffed with cheese that he had stolen from the refrigerator.

Ayo is a greedy boy who is always not content with what he has; he always wants more even when it's not needed, and his mother never sees anything bad in it. She always claimed, "He is a male child; he has to feed well." He always begs for food, snacks, and other things in school from his classmates, and everyone already knows him for his covetousness.

Whenever Tiara, Ayo's mom, prepared meals or bought cookies or anything edible, Ayo was always the first to have a taste of it all, while his mother never corrected him. Ayo's father, Mr. Paul, is a busy man who doesn't live in the same state as them but comes in every two weeks to check on his family. Paul is a very disciplined man; he doesn't tolerate all of Ayo's excesses, but Tiara is always on the defensive side, claiming Ayo is her only child, so she has to pamper him.

"Baby, your dad will be coming tomorrow; you must have missed him a lot," Tiara asked Ayo.

"No, Mom, Dad is always scolding me; I did not miss him," Ayo replied sharply.

"Naughty boy, don't say that; he is scolding you because he loves you so much, do you understand?" Tiara explained.

"But you love me too, Mom; why don't you scold me like dad always?" Ayo asked his mother.

"I'm a mother, and mothers don't scold like fathers," Tiara replied to her son with a smile.

The next day, which was Thursday, Paul arrived, and Ayo met his father at home when he came back from school. While reporting to his mother that there would be an open day in his school on Friday (a program where parents would come to check on their children's academic performances in school), Paul volunteered to go instead of Ayo's mother. Ayo was not happy about this because he knew his father wouldn't be as lenient as his mother, but he had no choice but to agree.

The next day, when it was time for the visit, Paul drove to his son's school and met with the teacher, who gave him all of Ayo's notebooks and workbooks. After going through it all and seeing his performances are a bit low, he asked if she could take him extra lessons on weekends. After agreeing to teach Ayo privately at their residence on weekends, Ayo's teacher brought to the notice of Mr. Paul Ayo's covetous attitude, which his classmates have been complaining of. He wasn't surprised because his mother had been indulging him so much. Paul thanked the teacher and drove back home. He told his wife Tiara all his decisions for extra coaching, and she gladly agreed. He narrated to his wife all Ayo's teacher said about his greediness and covetousness, but as usual, Tiara wanted to blame the teacher, but her husband wasn't buying into her replies.

Later that evening, Paul went to the supermarket and got different cookies and candies. On getting home, he gave his son one piece each, but as usual, that was not enough for Ayo. He monitored his father to see where he kept the remaining packages. While in the living room later at night, Ayo stood up and quietly entered his parent's room to take more candies and cookies. Immediately he entered; he quickly gobbled some in his mouth and put some in his pocket when his father called out to him. He couldn't answer his father because of the cookies stuffed in his mouth, and as he was trying to gobble some more pieces from the box, his father caught him in the act.

"I knew this is where you are; you are stealing, right? Paul asked Ayo as he pulled his ear to the living room.

Ayo was trying to swallow the cookies in his mouth, but it was too much to swallow at once; he had to spit it all out when his father caught him.

"I told you he was stealing, but you won't believe it. Have you seen for yourself, is this how to train a child?" Paul shouted at Tiara, who was looking surprised.

He was warned by his father, while his mother was given a stern warning to correct him when he misbehaved instead of pampering him, which is ruining his life gradually. Till Paul leaves on Sunday, Ayo is still being punished for stealing, and his father warns him to desist from his greedy and covetous acts in school.
