Hello, everyone! I hope you all are doing great. I love to show you a dress I made recently. If you have read my previous needlework post, you know I'm working on creating a casual wardrobe. This is the third casual outfit I'm making and I decided to make a dress.

The material I used for this dress is a Lycra fabric. This material isn't mine but for a friend. She gave me to make a dress. This was like 4 years ago. The material has been sitting in my stash for like 4 years now. Moreover, she recently relocated to somewhere far away. She doesn't need the material any more, and there is no point in keeping the material. I'm also trying to make use of old fabrics to create space for new ones.

Making this dress was easy, except picking a style that would be nice for the material took me a while. I knew I wanted something long but I had no idea how I wanted the up to be like. And besides the material has a particular pattern, and if not cut rightly, it can ruin the dress. I checked Pinterest for inspiration, and I saw a beautiful maxi off-shoulder dress. I knew I would love it.

Material used:
2 yards of lycra material

The process

I started by cutting the pieces for the dress.
The top piece (front and back) and the bottom piece (front and back) Image from thread

I joined the top pieces together as well as the bottom pieces.

I then cut a 10 inches long cape (on the fold)

I attached it to the neck of the dress

I hemmed the bottom
