When we think of mining, we usually picture giant trucks, excavators, and workers facing heat, dust, and high-risk environments; however, a transformation is underway in the sector. At a copper mine in Utah, USA, "Spot"—a quadruped robot from Boston Dynamics—has evolved from a mere inspection machine into an integral part of the operation's "brain."

Instead of relying on manual inspections performed only a few times a day, the mine is now continuously monitored, allowing anomalies to be identified long before they escalate into equipment failures or accidents. Safety is another key benefit; many inspections require workers to enter potentially hazardous areas near heavy machinery or industrial structures.
