Lets Talk SPT
Its been awhile since the SPT Token been traded to any meaningful degree but there was a time the token was in high demand. Some of you OG's of the HIVE Network/ Splinterlands game will know the following information but regardless who doesn't like to reminisce. For those who might not know or remember the introduction of the SPS Token (Splinterlands Governance Token) came roaring with a historic year long airdrop based on held Splinterland assets. One such asset was the SPT Token. For every SPT held one earned a small but meaningful amount of airdrop points (Which gave a daily SPS drop). This caused the SPT token to hit its all time high in USD value and opened the flood gates of trades for SPT. Of course that is all over with now but such events does show the potential trade value that SPT holds. Aside from being a blog token that rewards SPT to bloggers who create and/or curate you can also trade the SPT Token for NFT's on the official Splintertalk site. So now what? Why has the token trade value tanked? The answer is simple, there is plenty of SPT and not enough demand/ usecases. However as we hinted at in our opening paragraph I believe SPT still holds huge potential and the SPS airdrop showed that. If this token ever does get implemented in the game somehow I believe we will see the trade value increase. This isn't a far fetched idea that might not come to fruition. At one point in-time the Splinterlands community was rallying to do just that. Those roars have timbered down to a meow but that doesn't mean the possibility is completely dead. I don't envision it will happen in today's landscape but if the game can hit another bull run who knows what might happen.
