English
The ferryman
Infamous work of the squalid being, who moves his oar made of the bones of unfortunates, bones of those who were someone in life, now without a vestige of a humanity, extinct. The thousand-year-old boatman continues to row along the Acheron, a jet-black river with a putrid smell. He has no feeling at all, he has been stripped of feeling, he is just a spectre in this terrible world and where the crimson firmament accompanies time, which has been lost among the laments of those who have passed to the other side.
The ferryman has the eyes of a deep black, those who see him are lost in a suffocating darkness. The skeletal old man moves his boat, made of rustic wood and flat bottom to take the unfortunate and in the bow an ominous skull is marking the course towards Hades. The eternal routine of the ferryman has led him in an endless cycle of carrying souls, over and over again, without rest, without sleep, without food, but of what use in this world, where nothing makes sense, only a constant suffering of those who leave, of those who do not pay and wander a hundred human years.
An obol is the payment for getting on the unfortunate boat. The ferryman is adamant, payment before the trip. The ferryman does not give concessions. The ferryman does not do favors. The ferryman stretches out his bony hand, asks for the tribute, asks for the obol. There is nothing more to say, nothing will make the ferryman feel sorry, he only does his entrusted job, since death reigns among mortals. He's doing his job that's chained him to that damn boat.
The boatman does not speak, he just paddles shaking the putrid waters, those waters loaded with death, suffering and floating skeletons, as silent witnesses of his unfinished journey, a journey that was half finished, and that boatman did nothing to save them, he just kept paddling, kept crossing the Acheron, as he has done and will continue to do, until eternity.
Wretched ferryman, son of night and darkness, your destiny has been marked without consent, that's why you don't feel, that's why you don't cry, don't laugh. Skeletal friend of death and misery, of the darkness to which you have become accustomed. You will never know the sun, nor the candor of the rays on the skin, nor the pure air struck the face. The boatman continues to row to infinity, taking unfortunates to his judgment, to their perdition in Hades. A tasteless task that only he can do and that no one else can do.
Is it your conviction or your job?
The boatman arrives at the port where the unfortunate people are waiting, stops, looks with that look without feelings, empty as the white skulls. His bony hand peeks through the dark and battered tunic, the tribute is paid, the unfortunate climb up. The boatman begins to row with his dark eyes looking to infinity, while lamentations surround the journey. The boatman got used to that already, he had an eternity to do it. The boat is lost by the Acheron in a dark fog that floats on the putrid water in an eternal and sinister caress.
