Stefany

"Miss Stefany, where are my reports?"

"Boss, I'm about to finish. I am missing the balance sheets." Stefany was sweating profusely.

"Gee, miss, I gave you enough time. You certainly didn't do what you had to do." The boss was frowning.

"No, sir, it's just that my father is in the hospital and I had to go and take care of him." Stefany was dropping a tear.

"I am very sorry, but you must fulfill your obligations at work, or else you will have to resign to be with your father." The boss showed a cold, almost inhuman gesture.

"I understand, sir. I'll have the reports finished by tomorrow." Stefany was wiping away tears.

"I hope so, Miss Stefany, or else you will already be notified." The boss turned toward the window. "You can leave, and please call my secretary."

"I understand, I understand, boss. I'm coming, I'm coming..." Stefany was rushing out of the office.

Stefany walked down the hallways with her head down; her brown eyes reflected deep sadness behind her large glasses, while her angular face accentuated her expressions and her black hair fell over her shoulders, following a failed attempt to braid it with a pencil.

"How was it with the old man?" Samantha was looking at her expectantly.

Estefany let out a long, disconsolate sigh.

"I have to deliver the reports to him tomorrow, or I have to resign."

"Oh, my friend, that old slaveholder. I hope something bad will happen to him. It's not fair how he treats us." Samantha was hugging Stefany.

"Life is unfair, and we can't do anything." Stefany was placing the papers on the desk.

"How is your father?"

"He's still very sick; he was delirious yesterday and couldn't sleep. They told me that they would call me to inform me about any news." Stefany couldn't hold back the tears.

"Friend, have faith that he will recover." Samantha clasped her hands together.

"Thank you, friend. I'm begging for that." Stefany was turning on the computer. "I'm going to finish the reports once and for all."

A few hours later, Samantha walked into Stefany's small office.

"Friend, let's go to the cafeteria for something to eat. I'm starving. Haha."

"It's okay, my stomach is roaring. Haha." Stefany was taking a small white bag out of her pink briefcase.

The women were heading to the small office cafeteria, where all their coworkers were gathered. The voices of disappointment could be heard in the distance. Samantha was addressing one of the companions.

"What's the matter?"

"Lena didn't come to work, and no one can make coffee like her." The man showed a slight distaste.

"Stefany, you have a great touch for the kitchen." Samantha was showing a smile.

"No, no, no, I..." Estefany was blushing.

"Let's make coffee, don't be like that." Samantha held Stefany by the hand, and they walked into the kitchen under everyone's astonished gaze.

"It's okay, I have no escape." Stefany was showing a nervous smile.

Samantha picked up the powdered coffee and passed it to Stefany. The coffee maker was starting to boil with the water. Samantha was sticking the aluminum spoon into the dust.

"Wait a minute, don't add the coffee yet." Stefany was looking for the jar of salt.

"What are you going to do?" Samantha looked at her friend in surprise.

"You'll see. Haha." Stefany was dropping a pinch of salt to the coffee powder.

"Noooo, what are you doing?" Samantha was putting her hands in her mouth.

"Don't worry. Haha." Stefany was starting to filter the coffee.

Samantha placed the white porcelain cups with some delicate painted flowers around, and Stefany served the coffee; then she took out some shortbread cookies from the little white bag and placed one on each small plate.

"Comrades, this is the coffee with Stefany's touch; we hope you like it."

People looked expectantly at Samantha, who was passing the cups with the cookies. Stefany felt a lot of tickling in her stomach while watching her classmates drink the coffee and eat the cookies.

Immediately, the faces of the companions lit up, and the gazes shone at the new and delicious taste of coffee and cookies. Everyone was congratulating Stefany and showing their gratitude. In that moment of small triumph, Stefany's cell phone was ringing with that electronic and soft melody. She was pressing the green icon that moved up and down.

"Good morning, Miss Stefany. We inform you that your father has become aggravated. Please come as soon as possible."

"No, no, it can't be." Stefany dropped the coffee and ran out.

An indescribable anguish squeezed her heart, and her head seemed like it was going to explode between dark thoughts that hammered the memories. Samantha was going out after her friend without knowing what was happening. The two women arrived at the hospital, and Stefany was going up to her father's room.

There was the emaciated man, a living skull inhaling his last breaths, while the sound of the machines merged with Stefany's pain and despair. The father looked with his dull eyes and took his daughter's hand, as weak as a little bird. The man's voice was barely audible, and Stefany put her ear close to her father's lips.

"I love you, daughter. Thank you very much for everything." The father let out his last breath and closed his eyes forever.

Stefany was crying inconsolably and felt that her whole world had collapsed. Samantha was hugging her friend, trying to comfort her from those terrible sufferings. The days passed quickly, but the pain continued to tear at Stefany's soul. Samantha was going to her friend's house to accompany her in her grief.

Samantha was helping her organize her father's things, and at that moment she found a letter. She passed the envelope to Stefany, who, when she looked at it, started crying. It was her father's handwriting. Samantha took the envelope back, opened it, and started reading.

"Dear daughter, don't forget how much I love you, and when I leave this world, I just want you to carry on my legacy. I know you are afraid to prepare food for strange people, but I assure you that you have the talent to prepare delicious dishes and succeed in what you are passionate about doing. I would be very happy if you give life to the Flavor Truck again and take your talent to all corners of the city. Remember that life without dreams is not worth it. An eternal kiss."

"Oh, my God... No... No... I was expecting this..." The sobs cut through Stefany's words.

"What will you do?" Samantha looked expectantly at her friend.

"I will do what my father wanted me to do." Stefany let out a sigh. "I'm just scared to start this business."

"Friend, I'm going to help you. We will resurrect the Flavor Truck, and we will be very successful; you'll see." Samantha was painting a big smile.

"But...... But... The job?" Stefany was stunned.

"I'm bored with that old man and that monotonous job. I also find it very exciting to start my own business. Haha."

The two women quit the job and set to work on Stefany's father's dream. They brought the Flavor Truck back to life, painted it purple, Stefany's father's favorite color, and started the business with great enthusiasm.

Stefany prepared the food and drinks, and Samantha was in charge of selling and promoting the products of the Flavor Truck with her sexy charm. It was a rough start, but over time they made a name for themselves, and people began to recognize that purple truck as it traveled the streets of the city, bringing that delicious flavor to every corner, just as Stefany’s father had dreamed.

Stefany

«Señorita Stefany, ¿Dónde están mis informes?».

«Jefe, estoy por terminar. Me falta los balances del contaduría». Stefany sudaba profusamente.

Samantha abrazaba a Stefany.

«No, no, no, yo...».

«¿Qué vas a hacer?». Samantha miraba extrañada a su amiga.

«Ya verás. Jaja».

«No te preocupes. Jaja».

No... No...

«Amiga, yo te voy a ayudar.
