Visions
“Rosa, how are you?” David shook hands with his longtime friend.
“I’m fine, David. I’m so happy to see you. It’s been so long since I heard from you.” Rosa smiled.
“What happened…?”
The moment David shook Rosa’s hand, he felt a current run through his entire body; then a vision came to him, and his pupils dilated. The image lasted a few microseconds.
“David, are you okay?” Rosa noticed great terror on the man’s pale face.
David shook his head and blinked rapidly.
“No, I think it was just low blood sugar. Haha.” David regained his composure. “I’ll buy you a coffee. Would you like that?”
“Sure, if that helps you recover. Haha.” Rosa pointed to a coffee shop. “Let’s go there.”
Rosa was crossing the street when a red car speeding by struck her. David was in shock—it was the vision he’d had. People gathered around the lifeless body, and a great commotion ensued. Completely terrified, David ran away from the scene, tears streaming down his face, and was blown away by the breeze on that tragic afternoon.
He arrived at his apartment and locked the door, then lay down on the sofa and turned on the TV. In the glow of the screen, David fell asleep. The next morning, he got ready for work; he wanted to forget what had happened and went back to his routine as if nothing had happened.
When he was in his cubicle, a coworker walked in.
“Hey, buddy, how are you?” The man placed his hand on David’s shoulder.
“Fine…” David felt that horrible chill.
A vision came over him; his pupils dilated, and David turned pale.
“Hey, are you okay?” David’s coworker shook him.
“Yeah, yeah… I just saw something. Don’t worry. ”
“Okay, man, I’m going to get my coffee. I’m really hungry. Shall we go?” The man stepped out of the cubicle.
Henry nodded, and they headed for the cafeteria. Everyone was gathered there. David’s coworker grabbed a cup of coffee and a croissant, and just then, the man started choking; there was a huge commotion among the people. David’s coworker collapsed lifelessly in front of everyone. David couldn’t believe it; once again, the vision had shown him a person’s death.
David ran out of the office; he was completely beside himself, unable to understand what was happening. It was like a curse that had taken hold of him overnight. When he got to his apartment, he started drinking whiskey, trying to calm the anguish and terror that were overwhelming him.
It was real; he could see other people’s deaths just by touching them. David was terrified and needed to find help. The next morning, he went to work, walking without being able to get what was troubling him out of his mind.
Just then, a redheaded woman ran past and bumped into David. The embarrassed woman stopped and looked at him with those beautiful blue eyes.
“I’m sorry, sir, I’m in a hurry and didn’t see you.” The woman reached out her hand to David.
“Don’t worry, just pay more attention to what’s in front of you. Haha.” David took the woman’s hand.
That sensation ran through his body again, and a new vision came to David’s mind. His pupils dilated, and he began to tremble.
“Are you okay?” The woman looked at David in astonishment.
She felt a little scared and kept running toward her destination. David blinked and shook his head; he saw the woman walk past a construction site and screamed.
“Hey, wait a minute!”
The woman stopped to turn and look at David, and at that moment, some bricks fell near her. She turned back to David, completely terrified.
“My God, those bricks almost crushed me.” The woman sought refuge in David’s arms.
“Calm down, it’s all over now.” David looked at the woman. “Let me buy you a coffee to help you relax. By the way, my name is David.”
The woman nodded and smiled, her beautiful face lighting up.
“My name is Cinthia.”
The couple went to the café and had a very pleasant time. It had been a long time since David had had such a good time.
“Tell me, Cinthia, where were you rushing off to?”
“I was going to a job interview, but after what happened, it doesn’t matter much anymore. If it weren’t for you, I would have died today.” The woman felt chills.
“Life is very strange. Don’t you think? Haha.”
When David finished speaking, the waiter appeared—an obese, bald man.
“Here’s your check, sir.” The man handed him the paper.
“Thank you.” David took the paper and accidentally touched the waiter’s hand.
An electric current surged through David’s body again, and a vision flashed through his mind. His pupils dilated, and he went into shock. Cinthia and the waiter stared at David in astonishment.
“David, David, are you okay?” Cinthia waved her hand in front of his eyes.
David snapped back to reality, and as the waiter walked away, he stood up and pointed at the obese man.
“Sir, you’re about to have a heart attack. Please, someone, give him first aid.”
People laughed, and the waiter continued on his way to the kitchen. At that moment, the waiter collapsed to the floor, and everything descended into chaos. Luckily, a doctor was there and ran to help the man.
David took Cinthia’s hand, and they ran out of the café toward the apartment. They arrived and sat on the sofa; after a few minutes of silence, Cinthia spoke.
“David, what happened out there?” Cinthia stared at him intently.
“If I told you, you definitely wouldn’t believe me.” David curled up.
“Give it a try.” Cinthia took David in her arms.
“I’ve been having visions for days. I can see how they’re going to die just by touching them.” David spoke without looking at Cinthia.
“I wouldn’t have believed you if I hadn’t seen with my own eyes what happened today—first to me, and then to the man at the café. It seems you have a superpower.” Cinthia gave a tender smile.
“It’s not a superpower; it’s a curse that torments me.” David sat up on the sofa.
“David, you have a gift that lets you help people. If you see it negatively, this could destroy your life.” Cinthia placed her hands on David’s shoulders. “I’m alive because of you, and I’m so grateful.”
Cinthia kissed the stunned David, who then realized what he had and how he could help people. He looked at Cinthia and smiled.
“Maybe you have the superpower to make people feel good and see the positive in every situation. Thank you.” David hugged Cinthia.
David became famous for predicting deaths with his visions and, most importantly, preventing them whenever possible. He became a sort of superhero and helped many people. And most importantly, Cinthia was his rock, always by his side, giving him strength and her unconditional love.

Visiones
«Bien, David, me alegra mucho verte.
No te preocupes».
«Ok, hombre, voy a tomar mi café. Tengo mucha hambre. ¿Vamos?».
«Dios mío, casi me aplastan esos ladrillos».
«Me llamo Cinthia».
«Dime, Cinthia, ¿a dónde ibas tan a prisa?».
Miró a Cinthia y sonrió.
Gracias». David abrazó a Cinthia.
