One thing I strongly believe is that giving forward, how you show gratitude if i render any assistance to you is by rendering help to the next person in need when it is in your capacity to do so.
I have people in my life that have helped me in numerous ways, and I'm unable to return the favour to them now and not anytime soon. What I do basically is take every opportunity I get to help the next person I know in need of my help when I have the capacity to help.
I learnt this behaviour from a friend, typically from spending time with him, seeing him do it always as a habit. When I asked him about it, what he told me was that repaying an individual for a good deed is not the way to live; it is more human to give forward than to repay someone for a good deed. Only when the help is needed by the same individual who has helped you is it better to give forward.
Paying a good deed forward makes what would have looked like a tit-for-tat into a chain reaction; it opens the act of kindness to extend to many people rather than staying between two individuals. It also removes the expectations of you from people will pay you back for what you have done for them. You hear less grumbling about how people are not paying back good for good when you teach others to pay it forward rather than expecting repayment for the good they have done for others.
It is a natural thing to return a good deed directly to the one who did good to a person, but paying it forward changes the ideology completely about how people see giving. When gratitude is returned solely to the original giver, the deed does not get to spread around and will end there, but when it is paid forward to whoever may need it next, it creates an ongoing movement.
People who render help to us mostly are older family members and friends in a better-suited position in comparison to us; waiting for an opportunity to pay back only makes the gratitude sit idle when it can go around to touch a lot of people in need. Helping someone who is a step behind you will increase the capacity of others over time, making them capable of also helping others in the long run when they can. This, in the long run, increases the number of people who can help others in the world.
Giving forward transforms gratitude into a habit rather than feeling a sense of debt or obligation to the one who has shown you love or has assisted you in the past, transforming gratitude into action.
A way to show gratitude is to show others how the good shown to you has affected, being grateful is not about returning favour is about giving others what you have also experience from the gesture shown to you, when someone touches your life positively, the right thing to do is to touch the lives of others positively, and also make them understand the importance of touching the lives of others positively.
