Jagged Little Pill is Canadian singer Alanis Morissette's third studio album, released on June 13, 1995 through Maverick, and her first album to be released worldwide. The album was produced by Glen Ballard. Jagged Little Pill Album is an alternative rock album that takes influence from post-grunge and pop rock, and features guitars, keyboards, drum machines, and harmonica. While the lyrics of the album's songs touch on themes of aggression and failed relationships, Glen Ballard introduced a pop sensibility to Alanis Morissette's angst. Additionally, the album's title is taken from a line in the first verse of the song "You Learn".
The Jagged Little Pill Album was a major commercial success worldwide, topping the charts in at least thirteen countries. The album became one of the best-selling albums of all time, with sales of over 33 million copies worldwide, making Alanis Morissette the first Canadian to achieve double diamond sales. Jagged Little Pill was nominated for nine Grammy Awards and won five, including Album of the Year, making Alanis Morissette, then 21, the youngest artist to win the top honor up to that point. Additionally, Rolling Stone ranked Jagged Little Pill at #69 on its 2020 "The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time" list. Jagged Little Pill Album was re-released on October 30, 2015 and on June 26, 2020. Additionally, a musical stage production based on the Album premiered at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge on May 5, 2018. And the following year, it transferred to Broadway and was nominated for 15 Tony Awards, including Best Musical. Jagged Little Pill's world tour celebrating its 25th anniversary kicked off in early 2020 but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
