÷ (Divide) is the third studio album by English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran, released on March 3, 2017 by Asylum Records and Atlantic Records. The album was recorded between 2015 and 2016. The album was produced by Ed Sheeran, Benny Blanco, Steve Mac, Johnny McDaid, Will Hicks, Labrinth and Mike Elizondo.
The album was a huge commercial success, reaching number one in the UK, selling 672,000 copies in its first week. This made it the fastest-selling album by a male solo artist there and the highest-opening album after Adele's 25 and Oasis' Be Here Now. In addition, the album became the best-selling album of 2017 with sales of 6.1 million copies, and also became one of the best-selling albums. Divide was a huge success around the world, topping the charts in over 25 countries. Additionally, the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry named ÷ (Divide) the best-selling album of the year worldwide of the year in April 2018. Additionally, as of October 2019, it became the fifth best-selling album of the 21st century in the United Kingdom. To promote the album, Ed Sheeran embarked on a worldwide concert tour called ÷ Tour, which was a huge success and, as of August 2019, became the biggest, most-attended and highest-grossing tour of all time. Divide won the Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards. Additionally, as of October 2023, the deluxe version of the album has become the second most streamed album of all time on Spotify. They're all great songs, really, but "Shape of You" is truly amazing.
÷ (Divide) is a truly great pop album and I can say that it is one of my favorite pop albums. There are great songs in the album such as "Perfect", "Castle On The Hill", "Dive", "Galway Girl", "Happier", but I would like to say that my favorite is "Shape of You". I still listen to "Shape of You" whenever I get the chance and it's on my most listened to playlist. "Shape of You" is one of the songs I listen to when I need energy, when I'm bored, that is, when I need joy and smile. It's also one of the songs I listen to while exercising.
