Dookie is the third studio album by American rock band Green Day. The album was released on February 1, 1994 by Reprise Records. The album was produced by Rob Cavallo and Green Day. It was also recorded at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley, California, between September and October 1993. The album was mostly written by singer Billie Joe Armstrong, and is heavily based around on his personal experiences with themes such as boredom, anxiety, and relationships. Dookie reached a universal audience and catapulted Green Day to worldwide fame, as well as lyrically bringing a livelier, more melodic rock sound to the mainstream. The album is considered one of the defining albums of the 1990s and punk rock in general, while also influenced a new wave of pop-punk bands including Blink-182, Sum 41 and Fall Out Boy.
Dookie was a huge commercial success, selling over 20 million copies worldwide. The album became Green Day's best-selling album and one of their best-selling albums worldwide. Additionally, the album received critical acclaim and earned the band the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Album in 1995. While the album reached the top five in many countries, it peaked at number 2 on the Billboard 200 in the United States. It was also certified Diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). There are great songs on the Dookie album, but I can say that the song I like the most on this album is "Basket Case".

Billie Joe Armstrong had a panic attack around the time Green Day was recording Dookie and poured his experiences into the lyrics of "Basket Case", resulting in one of the best songs of his career. Also, the video for the song above was shot in a real mental hospital in California.
