Hi guys,

Welcome to my blog for this week's entry unit the Splinterlands battle mage contest. As usual in this post, we try our best to explore the Ruleset at hand and to also make the best team possible for the Ruleset provided.

These days am mainly playing with my alt account because of a few reasons. I wouldn’t care to explain but let’s say I have stronger cards on that account.

The Ruleset for this week is

Lost magic.

What this means is that in this type of battle, you are not allowed to use magic cards in this type of battle. You are still allowed to use magic summoners though. Because magic cards are not allowed you are not also allowed to use 2 types of attack cards where one of the attacks contains a magic attack.

Now because I am in the gold league I was presented with 2 other Rulesets.

Stampede- what this means is that the trample ability can be triggered multiple times once the trample monster is killed. What this also means is that once a trample card kills a card it continues to attack the next card, if the card is killed after that attack the next card is immediately attacked by the trample card until the trample card is not able to kill a card in that round of attack.

Close range- Ranged attack monsters may be used in the first position.

So because of this type of Ruleset, I wanted to use a trample card. I was restricted to not using magic cards but for some reason, I opted out of using range cards.

My summoner of choice for this battle was the keyla frendul. A water summoner which grants my cards a +1 shield and +1 speed. I went for this summoner cause I knew there wasn’t gonna be a magic card so my opponent's cards would have to break my shield before they could get to my cards.

My first card of choice was Diemonshark. A card which grants the trample ability, retaliate ability and also the range ability with 4 melee, 4 speed and 10 health with 6 shield.

Next in line was the pelacor bandit. A 4 melee card with 6 speed and 5 health. A card which grants the opportunity ability and the flying ability.

Last card is the torrent fiend. A 0 mana card with 1 melee, 3 speed and 2 health. A card which reduces the speed of the enemy cards by 1.

Let’s rumble.

The first round was a norm as I knew my pelacor will be attacking first because of its speed. It attacked my opponent pelacor first and he in turn attacked my last card the torrent fiend clearing its shield.

A few rounds into round one and I was already disappointed in diemonshark shark. I put it there because of its trample abilities but also because of its retaliate abilities but unfortunately, it refused to retaliate after taking one or two melee hits.

It was an easy kill for my opponent in round 2 clearing off torrent fiend easily after clearing its shield in round one.

It was the same sequence of attacks but this time round in round 2 my card attacked back with the retaliate ability. It was able to kill my opponent's first card and perform the trample ability. It was only unfortunate as my opponent's next card had his shield intact.

I was then able to kill my opponent's pelacor next with my own pelacor. My opponents card attacked my diemonshark and killed it but with the retaliate ability it attacked back and killed it.

This time round it wasn’t able to perform the trample as it was killed.

The remaining cards of my opponent attacked my last card but was missing so I was able to kill his second to last card. Then on came his Igor dark spear with its stun abilities stunning my pelacor after I cleared its shield.

At this rate, I was only looking and praying for only one attack but before I could get unstunned I was killed. Such a painful way to lose a battle when I thought I was gonna win.

Even though I lost there were valuable lessons to learn from this battle. For my opponent, the presence of the close-range ability played a big role in his win.
