Greetings!
The school is a place where we learn about the various professional fields of life through the available courses and subjects.
So, going by the topic, there's only one thing I would have loved the school to teach me and that thing is the reality of life.
To me, one thing that should have been taught and prioritized in the school curriculum is the reality of life. One thing I have got to know about our educational system is that, we always think that obtaining an educational feat is the sure way to making it in life.
Though, I thought as much, but it's after I graduated from the university that I got to know that education is not everything as it occurred to me in my encounter with the reality of life.
Gaining admission into my school of choice was not as easy as I have though as I sat for the matriculation exams three times before I could be given admission to study my choice of course, but before then, I was very optimistic that that's the last puzzle that will make me completely happy and successful in life and maybe that's why I put all my strength and energy into it.
In the school, we were taught a series of courses about our chosen field plus other related fields as well. Even at school, we are also taught skills acquisition and with all we have learnt in the four walls of the school, we thought that's all and that going out to exploit our educational experience would be made easy without even stressing ourselves.
In fact, some of us were even saying they would not earn less than a specific amount as salary with what they have so far acquired as knowledge and skills. Also, the school instead of telling us the truth about life were busy encouraging us not to go for the less.
So, after graduation and NYSC, we were all pushed out to go and source and compete for the limited job out there and on getting to the field, we all realized that the jobs out there were only meant for few and not all of us and that's when the reality was dawn on us. And as for some of us who are interested in doing business, we also realized that the business environment is a toxic one for us.
So, with my experience about life and our educational system,I now realized that the school ought to have taught us something about the reality of life.
Finally, I would say that the reality of life is what our educational system is not addressing and for us to have better products coming out of our educational system, the reality of life must be taught to them in order to prepare their products for the task ahead. In fact, it should be injected into the school curriculum.
