January Movie Marathon Month

Sorry, Baby (7.1/10)
The one name that is central in this movie is Eva Victor, as she is the Director, the Writer, while playing the lead role in this movie. It on top also is her feature directorial debut and it is clear that there is a lot of talent from here side in every way. I liked her acting along with the way everything was filmed and also the writing. So I'm quite sure she will be making more movies and I'm already looking out to see how she can evolve as a film maker.

The Plot
The film follows Agnes who is a a literature student who gets 'raped' by her professor which causes some trauma and arrested development while her friends move on with their lives. I put 'raped' between quotes because that is my main issue with the film and where I just can't relate to. You don't see anything of that scene and she just tells her friend calmly what happened afterward. To me, it all didn't come over as something that traumatic or violent and pretty much all she had to do is say "what are you doing", stand up and leave and that would have prevented the entire situation. I know there is somewhat of a authority role as he was her professor, but that can be put in reverse also where the professor is the one who has the bigger problem for attempting it.
Anyway, that is the main issue I have with this movie but it's a pretty fundamental one as the entire movie is based around it.

That said, I still enjoyed watching it and think the entire movie was made very well. The main theme of putting your life on hold while seeing others move on is also somewhat relatable and it's one of the first times I really see this as the main subject of a movie. I also loved the locations and the house it was filmed in. There certainly were some funny & awkward moments but I see this one more as a drama than a comedy.
Conclusion
I was impressed by the debut of Eva Victor and certainly enjoyed watching this one even though I have some issues with the main plotline which is hard for me to relate to. That said, I highly look forward to what she will be making in the future and I'm glad that I watched this one. A very respectable 7.1/10 for me and recommended if you enjoy movies and look at directors when making a choice what to watch.
