This blog is a personal journal of all the movies, Tv-Shows, & Games I consume during a year which enhances my overall experience. The ratings that I give are fully based on my personal preference and enjoyment at the time of watching and I'm writing spoiler-free reviews. Perfect Blue (7.0/10)

The movie is about a girl named Mima who is the lead singer of a semi-successful k-pop group. She is leaving the group to pursue a career in acting by takinhg a role in a television show. This action angers some of their fans and soon the people involved in Mima's 'bad girl' makeover start getting killed. As this goes on, Nima's mental state is starting to decayn and she starts to wonder what is real and what is not.

Perfect Blue is e critique about the toxic nature of fandom and the k-pop industry. It's something you see a lot with existing pop stars where fans are unable to make the difference between the performer and the person which causes these starts to lose their menatl stability followed by breakdowns as they fail to distinguish who the fans think they are and who they really are.

Movie Plot (Spoiler Free):

"A pop singer gives up her career to become an actress, but she slowly goes insane when she starts being stalked by an obsessed fan and what seems to be a ghost of her past."

There are things about this anime that I enjoyed while overall I was the kind of movie that is not really for me as I always have difficulties when you are left wondering what is real and what is not ans simply don't enjoy that. However, the animation was great and I really loved the 90s vibe in a time where internet was just popping up with basic websites to browse which really brings back memories. I also didn't expect this movie to be 16+ with some sexual scenes in them which I was not shocked by but had not anticicpated. One of the things I tend to really love about anime is that it really cathers to both the kid and the adult in me. This just wasn't the case for Perfect Blue which mainly goes for an adult audience.

Conclusion
I get that this is a highly rated anime movie but it simply was not for me even though I'm glad that I watched it and enjoyed in to a certain extent. I would say if you con't movies where not everything you see actually happens and you are left wondering what is real or what is not, this one mught be a good fit for you. For me, it was still a respectable 7.0/10 but nothing more purely on personal taste.
