Am I a Content Creator?

Lately I find myself questioning whether I am actually a content creator. Technically, I know how to write, how to record podcasts, and I know how to create videos. However, knowing how to do this and doing it are proving to be very different capabilities. I often find myself not creating content because I cannot think of a topic.

Or perhaps I am too perfectionist in wanting to eliminate any background noise or visual distractions from videos. I stop myself more often than not from creating content because I feel that it's not going to be at the level that I wanted to be. Ultimately I end up creating nothing.

So then the natural question is, am I really a content creator? Could I be doing more?

This self doubt is exacerbated by the proliferation of AI and other technological tools at our disposal. For example, we have voice recognition that would allow us to dictate blog posts rather than sit around, typing them up. I think that dictating a blog post comes out sounding more natural than typing it. Yet even having dictation built into my computer, I don't often use it as much as I could.

There are AI tools available now also that can allow you to record conversations and create transcripts of the conversation. Otter.AI for example will create transcripts of long conversations. Evernote also allows you to record audio, and afterwards create transcripts of the audio. So in truth, there is no reason why I could not sit down and think some things through to come up with a blog post.

As a matter of fact, it is now possible to have a conversation with AI to think through some ideas. You can brainstorm with ChatGPT or with Google Gemini. I'm sure there are other AI tools available that can allow you to have a back-and-forth conversation to flesh out blog post ideas.

It's particularly annoying that I have spent so much time these past several months consuming content online. Particularly I spend a lot of time on YouTube, watching others create content.

Here on hive, I watch taskmaster4450 create blog posts every day. He creates one or two videos that he posts on his channels every single day without fail. Tarazkp he is also one of those consistent writers who always has something to write about and post.

I see that InLeo has recently launched a new service, allowing you to subscribe to content creators. I don't know how this works technically on a blockchain that is available to everybody. I mean, how do you create private block posts? But that's getting ahead of myself. Not being very good at posting something every day I would feel wrong to ask others for a monthly subscription for my non-existing content.

Earlier today, I spent a few hours writing a blog post the old-fashioned way. Actually, no. I take that back. I did use AI to suggest an outline for a topic that I wanted to write about. And then I used that outline to type out the blog post itself. As I sit here tonight, I realize that I could've dictated the whole thing. It would've saved me a lot of time and effort.

Again, I have all of these tools at my disposal that I fail to use effectively. I think part of my struggle is a result of having trouble with other aspects of my life. I become overwhelmed with other things that when it comes time to sit down to right or create content, my mind is already fried and not in the right frame to create. But that could just be an excuse.

Certainly, I have a lot of ideas every day. But I often failed to write those ideas down and take action later when I have time and opportunity. Tonight it occurred to me that I could dictate a blog post and so I am doing that now. I've been able to create this blog post in a fraction of the time that it would've taken me to write it. I can only hope that in the future, I have enough presence of mind to remember that I have all of these tools at my disposal that I can use to write, record, and post all forms of media.

In fact, Google added a feature to NotebookLM that allows you to create an AI podcast from your notes. With his tool, you can gather all of your research and notes together then have the AI put together a conversation based on those notes. It's great for learning content by passively listening to the podcast. But you could also load up very specific information such as tourist attractions, or musical discussions or any other topic that the AI could use to create a show discussing what you like. It's all very natural sounding.

I think my frustration here is that it is so easy nowadays to create content that I don't understand why I have not been very good at doing it consistently like I could. Does that mean that I'm not cut out to be a content creator? Does it mean that I'm forcing myself to try to be something that I'm not? I don't have an answer to this. But it does shake my confidence a little bit.
