Cash Recycling Machines (CRMs) play a very important role in keeping banking services running 24/7 and customer-friendly. However, keeping these sophisticated and sensitive machines running continuously at the field level is quite challenging. Recently, while working on a CRM 61 machine, I experienced troubleshooting a complex mechanical fault.
A major problem arose in the machine, the money deposited by the customers was getting stuck inside the processing pocket. Due to the money getting stuck in the pocket, the machine became completely out of service and could not accept any new cash deposits or deposits. It was necessary to quickly open this mechanical lock to activate customer service.
To bring the situation under control and thoroughly investigate the fault, I opened the entire pocket device of the machine with great care. While working on such a complex module, extra attention has to be paid to the safety of every gear, roller and sensor. After opening the device, it was found that due to long-term use, dust had accumulated on the internal sensors and rollers, which was hindering the normal movement of the notes.
To eliminate the problem, I used a powerful blower to thoroughly clean the dust inside the entire pocket device. At the same time, I set the alignment of other sensitive parts and gears correctly. At the end of the maintenance, the entire device was reinstalled or assembled in its original place.
After cleaning and resetting the parts, the machine became fully operational as soon as I restarted it. The problem of money getting stuck in the pocket was completely eliminated and the machine started taking deposits normally and quickly again. Just as this type of field-level technical maintenance tests patience, the mental satisfaction that comes from reactivating a non-functional machine is truly great.
