Today was a strange experience and a day of professional satisfaction. Although it started as a normal day, it turned into a great learning and successful expedition. Today, while doing maintenance work on an S2 cash dispenser ATM machine, I suddenly had to face a very complex and big problem.
After turning on the machine, a red warning message appeared on the screen. It clearly said "USB Media Dispenser Vacuum Sensor Failed, Attention required now, CE required". This means that the vacuum sensor of the machine is not working properly and urgent technical assistance is required for this. At the same time, another error was also showing in the receipt printer. The first problem was quite sensitive, because if the vacuum sensor is not working properly, the entire process of withdrawing money stops.
When such a technical error occurs, it is natural to pay some extra attention. Without wasting any time, I started checking the entire inside of the ATM machine thoroughly. I kept searching for every cable, module and connection to find out exactly where the main problem is hidden.
After searching and observing for some time, I finally found the real cause of the error. It turned out that the small white connector or plug of the vacuum sensor was completely loose and hanging from its specific socket. Basically, when the bank or custodian responsible brothers came to load new money into the ATM machine, while rotating or pulling the cash bin or purse bin, this sensitive wire inside was inadvertently pulled. As a result, the sensor connection was completely disconnected from the motherboard or main circuit and this vacuum sensor failure message came to the system.
After identifying the source of the problem, it was not very difficult to solve it. I very carefully put the loose connector back in its right place. After connecting the connection properly, the ATM machine rebooted.
The great relief is that as soon as the machine started up, the red warning message on the screen disappeared and all the complications of the system were eliminated. After a test transaction, the machine dispenses money completely normally.
The mental satisfaction one gets after getting a malfunctioning ATM machine working again with one's own intelligence and effort is truly indescribable. Being able to solve such immediate problems while working in the field is a great joy and it increases one's confidence in the work many times over. Now the machine is running perfectly and customers are able to withdraw money without any problems, which is the biggest achievement at the end of the day.
