It is truly a matter of great luck to cultivate a piece of greenery with your own hands amidst the hustle and bustle of urban mechanical life. When I first started decorating the roof of my house with green plants, I never thought that it would become such a great source of my daily peace of mind. Currently, various types of vegetables and herbs are growing on the roof and walls of my rooftop garden. Especially on rainy days, looking at these creeping plants growing next to the wet roof and brick walls fills both the eyes and the mind.
Yesterday was a little more special for me. Like every day, I went to the roof in the morning and took care of the plants, and I discovered a small piece of joy hidden behind the leaves. A beautiful young cucumber is hanging from the vine of the tree, and right next to it, another young vegetable is growing with its branches spread among the dense green leaves. The water droplets collected on the vegetables after the rain were amazing to see.
The feeling of seeing the seedlings of my own seeds bearing fruit today is indescribable. Yesterday, unable to control my greed, I collected a basketful of vegetables and herbs. One by one, I picked a bright purple eggplant and the tips of all the young greens, including the leaves, from the tree. When I washed and cleaned all the vegetables, it felt like nature's purest and best gift had come to my home.
Yesterday afternoon, the dishes cooked with these completely poison-free and fresh vegetables were arranged on the table. When I had lunch with hot rice and fresh vegetables from my own rooftop garden, the taste of my mouth changed in an instant. Its taste and aroma were completely different and incomparable from the vegetables mixed with chemicals in the market.
The satisfaction that lies in picking and eating the produce from the garden that you have cultivated with your own labor and care cannot be found in any expensive restaurant food in the world. The peace and tranquility that was working in my mind after eating lunch was truly a different feeling. It was not just food to fill my stomach, it was the absolute joy of enjoying my own creation.
If you want to get rid of the concrete jungle of the city, you can also create such a green kingdom on the small roof of your house or in the corner of the balcony. Believe me, the joy of plucking a single leaf or vegetable from your own tree will instantly remove all the fatigue of your mechanical life.
