The United States Mint produces coins in the highest quality, which are called proof coins. The polish of the coin is meant to be understood as "proof".
Proof blanks undergo specialized treatment, manual polishing, and cleaning to guarantee superior striking. Following feeding, the blanks are hit at least twice in presses equipped with finely polished dies. In order to highlight and protect their remarkable quality, the coins are then meticulously wrapped.
2024 Morgan Dollar Proof Coin
I have a subscription to the United States Mint Morgan Dollar Program, and the Mint automatically sends me the Morgan Dollar of the year.
Obverse: The obverse features Liberty in profile. A cap, flora, and a crown incused with the word "LIBERTY" adorn her head, while 13 stars, "E PLURIBUS UNUM," and the year of issuance encircle her.

Reverse: The reverse depicts an eagle with outstretched wings clasping arrows and an olive branch, accompanied by a wreath. Reverse inscriptions are "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "IN GOD WE TRUST," and "ONE DOLLAR."

A proof coin is created by striking a highly polished planchet using a die that has been specifically prepared. The frosted fields and reflecting devices are created by sandblasting specific areas of the die to provide the devices a frosted surface, which would create a dramatic contrast against the mirror-like fields.
To guarantee that every feature is fully captured, proof coins are usually struck at least twice. The majority of proof coins have squared-off rims, which are one of these traits. Gloved hands are used to move the blanks from station to station as they are cautiously fed into the presses.
It may appear more difficult than it would initially appear to distinguish between Proof and Prooflike coins. Both Proof and Prooflike coins often have some degree of surface reflectivity—some more than others—they appear to be identical in appearance. And there are instances in which it appears that some Prooflike coins are more brilliant than Proofs.
Although coins that resemble proofs are "shiny," a proof is different for several reasons beyond just being dazzling. Coins made in the United States are classified as Proof because of their manufacturing process rather than their surface grade or level of brilliance.
