Greetings to all, in this beautiful Ladies of Hive Community. Heeding the call of this contest number 200, today I return to participate. Here I share this week's invitation. Thank you @priyanarc for these great questions!

This time I will answer the second question of the contest: How do you handle failure, and what do you learn from it?

Over the years my attitude towards failure has changed. In my youth I was very frustrated by failure, it made me unhappy, it caused me a lot of stress, and I was very self-critical; but the years bring maturity and the ability to understand that I am also human and, therefore, I am not perfect, and I am a fallible being. It has also allowed me to value mistakes as a source of learning, as invaluable experiences to learn and/or perfect what I already know.

Before, in my early youth, when I made mistakes, I would torment myself thinking about the consequences of the error or failure. Now I know well that everything is transitory, that everything is temporary and that there are things that do not deserve so much drama. Of course, I still have remnants of that time, but these last two years I have felt freer, lighter regarding this, I really do not consider that many everyday situations require so much attention. And this year 2024 in particular, due to the constant presence of death around me, since human and non-human people have died whom I loved and still love very much, I have seen how banal things that I used to consider important can be.

At this age, more than half a century into my life, facing failure involves various actions, which I will try to summarize as follows:
-
Analyze what happened, what is the situation derived from the failure or the error.
-
Establish what I have lost as a consequence of that failure.
-
Analyze how responsible I am for that failure, and what are the external factors that influenced that failure.
-
Identify what I have gained as a product of that failure, because, although it may seem incredible, behind every failure there is also a gain.
-
Extract the lessons from the situation, from the failure. And this is the most hardest part, because in certain situations it can be difficult to identify and systematize those lessons; which is why I usually reanalyze failures after days, even weeks of having occurred, because now, with a cooler head, I tend to be more objective.

There is also something very important, and that is that there are failures that are blessings, because when certain plans or ideas fail, it may be that God is protecting us from a greater evil, and usually, after a while we can see that. And when that happens to me, I am grateful for the infinite mercy of the Creator, in protecting me from things, people, situations that can cause me more harm than good.

Here I end my post today, trying to answer a seemingly simple but very important question, what do we learn from our mistakes? I say goodbye to you, wishing you good health, prosperity and joy, and remember: Not all days are the same and more importantly: Everything you give, everything you do, will inexorably return to you. Hugs!

¡Abrazos!
