Lee Daniels famous for his social dramas is going deep dive into the world of horror with his new picture, this movie is based on the story around the experience of a single mother struggling to save her children from both the devil and its demons, it is a story based on real events, it looks to be an interesting movie that combines family drama and elements of horror, considering it has a lot of popularity and increasing on sites like IMDB. The film has a powerful ensemble cast of Andra Day, Glenn Close and Mo Nique which increases the expectation from the movie. This movie is scheduled to be released in theaters before coming to the streaming service, it has already drawn the interest of horror enthusiasts and reviewers online. Due to its incorporation of true story components with horror elements, it is assumed that the film will bring novelty to the subject of possession. The horror genre is a though one, now days there is not much that surprise the audience in terms of the plot when it comes to a possession movie, same old story so it mainly comes down to two factors and that's drama and psychological horror, people are actually not scare of the possession itself anymore although what makes it interesting is how the posses and those around him or her are affected by the ongoing situation. The trailer of the movie does not tell much about it, just a couple of the possession scenes but based on the cast and director it has the chance to be a good watch.

As any other adaptation movie it has to distorts some of the facts but does not lose the main idea of the Ammons case based on the description of the film. In the real case there were allegations of children flying, noises and even physical assaults from the spirits, these events were also supported by local authorities and medical persons that made supernatural stories more believable. The film builds up the themes of faith, family and fight against evil forces which are not seen by the human eye.

The Deliverance (2024) has the potential and is a candidate to become a major hit showing the real face of horror. The use of real life events, horror elements and the family drama makes the film appealing to both the horror genre enthusiasts and viewers of other genres. Lets also consider Lee Daniels as the director and the cast that has been assemble with well known actresses, the audience will expect something beyond the horror film that will tell the story of the seven deadly sins. At the moment there is not much to be said or considered based on the facts and people involve on the movie, I don't think the adaptation part is going to be a problem even if it drift too much from the original story since it might not be well known for most of the audience. I notice that most of the cast are women, for me it will be interesting to find out who is going to pop as the hero and savoir of the story, as per usual on more classic demonic possession movie its a cliche that the its a men who plays the role of the priest. The film is an interesting one that brings few questions as I try to figure out what might work and what not but as a horror genre fan I for sure will watch this movie.
