Threshold TOP is a simple but powerful operator. It converts an image into a clean black and white mask by separating pixels based on brightness.
This is useful because it lets you isolate specific parts of an image, such as highlights, bright particles, or glowing areas. Once you have that mask, you can process only those elements with effects like blur, feedback, displacement, or color grading.
The final step is compositing those processed elements back over the original image. This creates effects that feel layered, controlled, and visually rich without affecting the entire frame.
A simple Threshold TOP can become the foundation for glow, bloom, stylized visuals, and many advanced TouchDesigner workflows.
