Tattoos are images made in the skin with ink and needles. They are images used to show the connection of people to a person or their connection to things, like the love they have for that thing or the love they have for that particular person.
Making a tattoo of something or someone on your skin shows how special that person or that thing is to you.
Some people make tattoos of animals, insects, etc. on their skin, showing what they have for them.
Today I'll be writing about a Nigerian dance artist who has his mother's face on his leg.
He started learning how to dance from his father at age 6. He continued to groom his skills as he grew older, and one day he became one of the most sought-after dancers in Nigeria. He started his professional career in 2012 when he was featured in the music video for 'Shoki' by popular Nigerian artist Lil Kesh.
Poco Lee, when interviewed, told the story of how they used to suffer hunger and a lot of hardship while growing up.
He explained that his mother was always struggling to feed them. Being a road seller, she trained him alongside his siblings.
He said that his mother "is his strength" and that he learned resilience from her, saying that anytime he looked at the tattoo, he always strengthened and saw the need to forge ahead.
The tattoo is boldly placed on the side of his left leg.
I write about this because I can relate to the strength parents put into making their children stand out.
Parents are sometimes out of this world, as they always swallow their pride, let go of the good life, get insulted, etc., just to see to it that their children are well placed in their endeavors.
My heart goes out for this particular act by the popular dance artist "Poco Lee" for acknowledging the fact that someone actually went through a lot for him to stand out.
This inspires me in two ways:
I have to be grateful to people who have, in one way or another, gone through a lot for me.
It may not be just my parents; maybe siblings, friends, etc.
I can't forget the acts of love shown to me by people.
I am inspired to stay humbled by my background and make sure I make those people proud of me.
Whenever I remember that my parents work so as to make me something, I see the need to be serious and hardworking so that in the future, I will always give them a better life.
Secondly, I am inspired to be hardworking so that I can also leave a legacy for my children.
I need to be patient with them and see to it that they stand out.
