Hey friends!
I had a nice morning earlier today because I could go for a walk. It was a productive walk since we had to go to the supermarket and get some stuff as well. It just feels great to move, especially when I'm mostly on my desk at work. I freed up my weekend this time, so I need not think about work and just enjoy my time. And since I had some free time, I decided to do a cute little painting for FreeCompliments Weekly Art Contest this week. I hope the host doesn't mind me submitting an entry every week. haha
I wanted to create something cute this time, so I decided on a cactus. haha I just used my solid watercolor on a 10 x 10cm watercolor paper. Sadly, the watercolor isn't very vibrant when it's dry. T_T I'll find some art materials soon. :)
Anyway, let me share some progress shots below.
First, I prepared the watercolor paper by placing a masking tape around it; then I drew a sketch using a pencil.
It was a mistake to make the sketch first. haha I should have painted the background first before sketching... but oh well! I just continued.
I accidentally poured black on the sun and the flowers, so they look even darker now. huhu This is what I get when painting in a dark place. It was midday, so I always turn off my main light to lessen the heat. XD
I outlined the painting using a black gel pen and used white acrylic paint for the highlight. I tried using a white gel pen, but it didn't work. XD I wrote my username, the date today, and my signature.
Lastly, I removed the masking tape around it. It looked darker in the photo, but I tried to edit one image to make it look brighter. Check it out below!
Yep, this is more of what it looks like in person with better lighting. Hahaha
