Succulent meatballs and spaghetti

There is a popular category in life called Food and Drink!

Last week I made a delicious meal well delicious dish that was the food part of the food and drink category. It complements the drink post The lady's having balls on Beer Saturday that I made ...

So today we shall focus on the food. So get that chopper ready @asiaymalay we are going a chopping!!!

Do you have favourite ingredients?

I know I do ...

Can you guess what they are?

Image from thread

Oodles and oodles of garlic and coriander, that plus red onions!

Okay let's start our wee cookathon.

Thirsty mouth needs quenching so before we crack on, let's crack open a drink...

You can see at the back our meat!

I probably alternate between making my own meatballs, it is easy to do, or using premade if there is a deal going on.

Sainsburys are an ok supermarket here and 10% Fat meatballs did the job. How much fat do you like... I try to use 5% but this was a good deal, so I bought them.

Now as you can see the packet does contain 24 balls...

24 balls is enough for a family, so I only need 12 for this dish and the rest go into the freezer ...

So before I get chopping here go the balls into the pan!

Image from thread

Did you count them to make sure there was 12?

Lol I just did!

The sauce

Okay you know three of the ingredients....

Image from thread

We can't use them like they are.. So by the magic of the internet we undress the veg!

Bish Bash Bosh use the chopper from @asiaymalay and you get ...

Image from thread

3 x Diced red onions
2 x Bulbs of garlic

I love garlic and if you are going to use it, then use it! Red onions are so cool too, they are just as good raw as they are cooked!

Now we did the hard part, we better check on the status of our meatballs!

We can't have burnt balls!

Image from thread

Ah they are coming along nicely, cooking and slightly browning as I like them. Time then to add the chopped garlic and diced red onions.

Next up is the wonderful smelling coriander...

Coriander or cilantro ...

Image from thread

For me, coriander is like garlic and you can't have too much of it...

For those of you who call it with the Spanish name I will say cilantro!

Chop the coriander, I just use scissors and cut it up over the pan.

Cheers

If it is a weekend I will often cook whilst have a wee sneeky beer. During the week then it is probably going to be a coffee!

What comes next is adding a can of chopped tomatoes and some pasta sauce.

Image from thread

Now we are starting to cook with gas.

Remember earlier I said that three of my favourite ingredients were coriander, garlic and red onions.... well add this to the list...

Image from thread

Yes, wee mushrooms, now get that chopper off @asiaymalay and use it then pop them into the pan!

Image from thread

Time to add some plum tomatoes...

Image from thread

Give it a stir or three...

Image from thread

Next step involves some boiling water....

The spaghetti

So you need boiling water a wee dod of olive oil and well spaghetti!

Image from thread

The supermarket I used Sainsburys have a cheap brand of food called Hubbard's foodstore. It is way cheaper than their normal lines but fluff me, most of the time you can't even tell the difference. That is the case with the spaghetti...

Image from thread

It looks just like spaghetti should look like, doesn't it?

Image from thread

And it cooks like spaghetti, it looks cooked, what do you think?

When I was a wee boy at boarding school, we often cooked our own spaghetti as the school food left a lot to be desired.

I remember the housekeeper saying if in doubt throw a piece of spaghetti against the wall if it sticks then it is cooked....

For the sake of Hive!

I have not done this for years.... but hey in the name of a good post on Hive!!!

Image from thread

Yes done to a treat I would say!

Image from thread

Let's dish up

Image from thread

And time to eat!

Image from thread

Well it was tasty ... do you eat meatballs?

Thanks for visiting and enjoy the rest of your day!
