🇪🇸 ~ Hace muchos años (aproximadamente en 2010) hice Cosplay del personaje "Grell Sutcliff" del anime-manga "Kuroshitsuji", o tambien conocido como "Black Butler", en ese entonces tenia uno de los fandoms mas grandes y activos en el mundo.
🇺🇸 ~ Many years ago (around 2010) I cosplayed the character "Grell Sutcliff" from the anime-manga "Kuroshitsuji", or also known as "Black Butler", back then I had one of the biggest and most active fandoms in the world.
Aquel fue un Cosplay muy divertido de usar (recuerdo que al público del evento le gusto mucho y recibió una reacción espectacular cuando subí al escenario), solo lo lucí una vez por ser más un Cosplay-Closet: El pantalón y los guantes negros eran de otro Cosplay, los mocasines y la camisa eran prendas genéricas que tenia en mi closet, y la peluca y el chaleco fueron prestamos de otros amigos Cosplayers.
This was a very fun cosplay to wear (I remember the audience at the event liked it a lot and got a spectacular reaction when I went on stage), I only wore it once because it was more of a cosplay closet: The black pants and gloves were from another cosplay, the slippers and shirt were generic clothes I had in my closet, and the wig and vest were borrowed from other cosplayer friends.
Ah, pero el saco rojo característico del personaje sí lo hice (igual que la cierra eléctrica, uno de mis primeros props grandes), y al ser mis primeros años aprendiendo sobre costura ya imaginaras todos los errores de principiante que tenía. Atesoro esos recuerdos-momentos con mucho amor y gratitud; la semana pasada decidí desarmar esta vieja prenda hecha por la yo de hace 15 años, para transformarlo en algo nuevo que pueda usar y que me acompañe muchos años más, además esta tela tiene alto valor sentimental porque fue de las primeras telas que me regaló mi mamá para comenzar a hacer mis propios trajes (/ / • /ω/ • / /)
Oh, but I did make the character's signature red jacket (as well as the chainsaw, one of my first big props), and since those were my early years of learning to sew, you can imagine all the beginner's mistakes I made. I cherish these memories with much love and gratitude; last week I decided to take apart this old garment I made 15 years ago to transform it into something new that I can use and that will accompany me for many years to come; besides, this fabric has a high sentimental value because it was one of the first fabrics my mother gave me to start making my own costumes (/ / • /ω/ • / /)

No recordaba lo amplio que había escogido hacer el diseño en la parte inferior, había tanta tela que me di cuenta que podía darme libertad creativa.
I didn't remember how wide I had chosen to make the design at the bottom, there was so much fabric that I realized I could give myself creative freedom.
Por eso y despues de mucho navegar en mi larga lista de referencias de "vestidos que quiero coser para mi cuando tenga tiempo libre", escogí hacer un vestido de verano mini, con tirantes gruesos y largos para formar lazos en los hombros, con una falda amplia plisada solo en ciertos lugares y tambien con bolsillos... ¡mas un bolso acolchado de media luna! (que también es un diseño que quería probar hacer hace mucho tiempo, no he hecho un bolso de media luna antes).
So, after much perusing of my long reference list of "dresses I want to make for myself when I have free time", I decided to make a mini summer dress, with thick and long straps that form bows at the shoulders, with a wide skirt that is pleated only in certain places, and also with pockets... plus a quilted half-moon bag! (which is also a design I wanted to try for a long time, I've never made a half-moon bag before).

Siempre es un deleite cuando la tela principal y la tela forro coinciden. ¿Notaste que no hay cierres ni botones?, estoy obsecionada con la idea de hacer ropa con solo 2 o 3 materiales, es un reto personal: "¿Puedo hacer ropa bonita, resistente y de calidad, con lo mínimo?"
It's always a delight when the main fabric and the lining fabric match, did you notice there are no zippers or buttons?, I'm obsessed with the idea of making clothes with only 2 or 3 materials, it's a personal challenge: "Can I make nice, sturdy, quality clothes, with the bare minimum?".

La falda me tomo mas tiempo terminarla porque no me decidía qué secuencia de tablones hacerle. Incluso pensé solo hacer ruches al azar pero se veía bastante feo cuando lo intenté. Finalmente hice solo tablas en el frente, al costado, y unas en la espalda, fue completamente una elección freestyle.
The skirt took me longer to finish because I couldn't decide what sequence of planks to make. I even thought about just doing random ruching but it looked pretty ugly when I tried. I finally did just planks on the front, side, and a few on the back, it was completely a freestyle choice.

El diseño de bolso de media luna incluye dos pequeñas agarraderas para colgar llaveros o cadenas o tira de perlas, estoy hype pensando en qué decoraciones colocarle primero, se siente demasiado genial coser a tu gusto sin contenerte.

The half moon bag design includes two small handles to hang key chains or chains or pearl strips, I'm hype thinking about what decorations to put on it first, it feels too cool to sew to your liking without holding back.
