It's Friday again and the weekend is just about here! I for one am looking forward to it, this week has turned out to be much busier than I ever anticipated. Life has a funny way of throwing surprises at you and this week has been full of them. Technically, I'm supposed to be on vacation visiting family and friends. But this nasty thing called work has a way of popping up it's ugly head when it's not supposed to... Welcome to life I suppose!
I haven't been all that busy here on Hive as I am on vacation. One nice thing about this trip is I really didn't plan to do a lot of site seeing as I would normally do in a location I haven't visited before. However, I did head out to a local hot spring with some friends one evening and we had a great time! It's been ages since I've gone out to a natural hot spring, I forgot how nice it feels to just sit and soak up the mineral water. If you haven't ever tried it out it's a great experience, it's worth the effort to go if you have some hot springs not too far from where you live!
A couple days ago I did get out and go fishing in a lake not too far from where I'm staying. The fish weren't biting unfortunately, but I did see a bald eagle soaring in the skies above. It had better luck as it swooped down and grabbed a fish right out of the water. Sadly, it was far enough away I couldn't get a decent picture on my phone. I'm starting to think it's time for an upgrade to something with better zoom capabilities... But seeing that majestic bird of prey did give me and idea for a post!
The Golden State Mint is a private company that produces some of the best precious metal products here in the United States. Despite the name Golden State they aren't located in California which is often called the golden state, they are in Florida! Since they are a private mint they don't produce actual currency, instead producing silver rounds and bars. The difference between a round and a coin is a coin has a denomination or stated value on it, and are generally produced by or for governments. This year one of the rounds they are producing is a bald eagle round that comes in multiple sizes to fit any budget!

These beautiful rounds come in one ounce, one half ounce, a quarter ounce and one tenth of a ounce of pure silver. Right now the price on the one Troy ounce is $76 and the one tenth is around $12, so a nice range to fit most any budget. I think I may be picking one of these up in the not to distant future!
Silver prices took a sharp decline today on profit taking by large investors. The nice thing about the situation is it present a great time to buy some silver at a discounted price. Silver is still in short supply worldwide and can't be mined/refined fast enough to keep up with demand.

Silver and gold are always great investments as they will always have value. They have been money since before recorded history and will continue to be so long into the future. It's always smart to have your own stack to ensure your own economic stability and to build your personal wealth. It can also be a great way to leave an inheritance for your children!
The best part about sharing an animal related silver product is it gives me a chance to talk about the animal itself!

Bald Eagle

This large bird of prey is found in North America and is the national symbol of the United States. Thus it appears on most of the coins produced here. Although these are considered sea birds and hunt mainly fish they live across the continent and even down into Mexico. They do tend to live near large bodies of water where there is plentiful access to fish. They are amazingly adept hunters and their prey rarely escapes them.
The reason for this incredible hunting ability is their eyesight. Unlike our human eyes that are able to see 20/20 on average, eagles can see five times more clearly with vision of 20/5. There are several reasons for this exceptional eyesight, the first being the size of their eyes themselves. A human eye is about one inch (2.54 cm) in size, whereas a bald eagle has an eye 1.5 inches (3.81 cm) in diameter. Not only that but they also have four types of photoreceptors in their retinas whereas we only have three, this allows them to see the ultraviolet spectrum in addition to all the colors we can see. Another interesting adaptation is that they have not one but two maculas in each eye which is the center of fine vision. With this fine vision they can see small animals from two miles (3.2 km) away! Their vision is superior to ours in just about every way!
These majestic birds were once endangered due to the pesticide DDT damaging their egg shell thickness. Fortunately, since it's ban they have recovered nicely and can be found all over North America. One more animal we were able to bring back from the brink of extinction!

That will do it for me today, and do hope you enjoyed it. Please feel free to leave any comments or questions below, and as always than you so much for all of your support. It's deeply appreciated. Have a great weekend everyone!
