Happy Friday everyone! You made it through another long work week! Lately I have been suffering from a bit of writers block, and coming up with ideas every day does become a little difficult. That is part of why I participate in several weekly events to take the pressure off, at least a little bit. I know many of you do the same, and for those who go with completely original material on a daily basis, I salute you. Not an easy feat to complete!

I though I might kick today off with this old silver medal I collected years ago. I remember buying it just because of the futuristic design created by the artist. Kind of a "Welcome to the world of tomorrow" kind of motif. It was made as a commemorative item for the World's Fair which was hosted in Seattle, Washington in 1962. Some time before I was even born... Alas, the future they were dreaming of has yet to come to fruition. And I'm still waiting for my flying car promised me in Back to the Future...

So why this particular piece of silver? And why Seattle you might ask? Because on Fridays is an event started by @geneeverett know as Nineties Friday. And what better source of music from the 1990's than Seattle? The birthplace of grunge that ruled the early 90's. If you don't participate in the event feel free to join in and share anything you like from the 1990's. There aren't any prizes, it's just a lot of fun! Just use the tag #ninetiesfriday .

But seriously, I am still waiting for that flying car. Hollywood has lied to me yet again! lol

About the medal:

As for the medal itself; the silver is worth $46.75 as of the moment, silver is down a bit today. I have no idea what the collectors market is on these, it may be non existent or huge. But not an item I will be selling any time soon!

Now time for some fun music out of Seattle in the 1990's:

Foo Fighters

These guys have always been one of my favorite bands originating in Seattle following the end of Nirvana. Dave Grohl put together his own band and the rest is all rock n' roll history as these guys have become legends. Today's song is a live version of a song off their second album and is called "Everlong":

Soundgarden

Soundgarden was one of the pioneers of the grunge sound and introduced the world to the style along with Nirvana and Alice in Chains. They were fronted by the talented Chris Cornell who wrote this particular song in about 15 minutes per his recollection. It went on to become one of their biggest hits. This is "Black Hole Sun":

Alice in Chains

This band from Seattle formed in 1987 and they helped bring the grunge movement to the world even though their sound was more based on heavy metal. They have a unique vocal style that makes them a lot of fun and they never take themselves too seriously. This song came off their second album Dirt and did well on the billboard charts back in 1992. This one is "Them Bones":

Nirvana

And I couldn't possibly finish of a musical post from Seattle without Nirvana. This band singlehandedly changed the face of popular music with their song "Smell Like Teen Spirit". Although the band only produced three albums prior to Cobain's suicide, they have become one of the most iconic rock bands of all time. Today I though I might share some "Come As You Are":
